Driving towards Availles-Limouzine, we picked up lots of autumn colours...
A farmer on this major regional route obviously has some of his livestock a little further away and thought that he would be OK on a Sunday morning ......
Passing by Confolens...
and arriving at the fortified town...
The Mairie...
Looking down one of the streets...
Walking under one of the the arches...
towards a second arch that frames La Vienne River.
Looking down the river...
and the Church of Saint Martin at the top of a hill.
In a boulangerie window...
and tonight, sunset at home!!!
I took too many photos today, but will write a full post on the town in My Life in the Charente in the not too distant future.
Autumn seems a little better organised with you than spring is with me! Although I did see a butterfly today!

Still the odd butterfly around here but they are few and far between now! Cheers Diane
DeleteIt's a lovely part of the world you live in.
ReplyDeleteSo much history around every corner and yes it is a lovely part of France, but then every commune has its own beauty and history here. Diane
DeleteLove your tours. The modern cars always look out of place beside this marvelous old architecture.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, but most of the houses were built before cars even existed being well over 200 years old as is our house! Diane
