31/10/2016 Still walking!!

Maximum temperature 22C, minimum 7C.  23 km/h SE wind.  Dry.
Taking up most of the road!

A lone poppy at the side of the road.

Distracted!

40023 is still busy eating.

Red Admiral - not bad for the end of October.

Winter wheat.

Solar power.

In a neighbour's garden.

Rose hips by the side of the road.

Joining the cranes heading South.

    1. Very poignant at this time of the year.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

  2. Beautiful photos, Diane! Every time I see a poppy (or a field of poppies), I can't help but think of Remembrance Day. It is coming soon, November 11th. I have been working hard to find some things for this special day to share on my blog. My father was a veteran as well. He died in 1984 at the age of 64, and even though he was born here in Canada, and died here as well, he did go to England when he was 19, as his parents were born there, in Kent. When he went there he registered at the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Sadly, he became a prisoner and although he never talked to me about his experiences, I know that he suffered at the hands of his captors.

Your photos and posts always bring me great joy, and today is no exception. Thank you so much for sharing, Diane.

    1. Linda my husband has an Uncle who was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, he is buried here in France, Saint Omer in the North of France. We have been to his cemetery. Last year we went to a lot of the cemetaries see my post http://lifeincharente.blogspot.fr/2015/11/thiepval-memorial-and-anglo-french.html
We have a local service here in our village, first at the church and then at the memorial. This is followed by a luncheon. France never forgets. Take care Linda and have a good week Diane
