    1. Linda it would be good if you could join me on a walk though I have not done much lately. The weather has not been very good and I have had a 'come and go' pain at the back of my knee which has slowed me up a bit. Have a great week. Diane

    1. We are also happy with the result though not sure either are the best, only 63% voting is not that good. Think a lot did not vote as they did not like either. Hopefully an improvement though on Hollande. Have a good week Diane

    2. It is very sad that so few people vote. It happens on this side of the Atlantic too. That fact certainly helped that idiot Trump to get elected.

  4. This is a great series of photos Diane. Thank you! I love the cute little donkey. The little bird is extraordinary. Is it an Egyptian Hoopoe bird? I have only seen photos of them.

    1. Denise, Hoopoes (Upupa epops) are widespread in Europe, Asia, and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar. Most European and north Asian birds migrate to the tropics in winter. In contrast, the African populations are sedentary all year. I think the name comes from an Egyptian word.
It is a colourful bird notable for its distinctive "crown" of feathers and black and white striped wings and tail. They have a very distinctive call. Hoop-hoop-hoop.
I have know the bird all my life living in Africa, I forgot others would not know it. Have a good week Diane

    1. Hoopoe are common visitors here in spring and summer where they breed. We have a pair around here that we hear day in and day out, but not sure where their nest is. We do get some good sunsets at this time of the year. Diane
