05/06/2017 In the garden once more.

Maximum temperature 22C, minimum 8C.  18 km/h SE wind with 22 kmh gusts.  Dry.
A hoverfly at rest.

A different species of hoverfly...

and the same one staring me out!!

Hummingbird hawkmoth.

Hydrangea.

Oedemera nobilis - male, the female has thinner legs.

Yesterday's rose today.

Meadow brown.

Small tortoiseshell.

Small white being bombed by a bee...

and by another small bug.

Chalicodoma parietina - I think

Raspberries ripening.

The stamens of the day lily.

    1. It is quite different the front view from what I normally take but it was perfectly positioned! My husband loves the raspberries as well, I like them but they do not like me, sigh! Take care Diane

  5. Wow Rhodesia, BEAUTIFUL! I love your photos! In reply to your comment on the frame on my window and your brick walls....I would go crazy! I think every bare spot on my walls needs to have something hanging on it!! HAHA...

    Great photos of insects! Si here is Oedemera nobilis!!
    I love the hoverflies, I used to take macro shots of them some years ago!
    I too wish I could go back to southern Africa, I miss it so much!
    Okavango seems horribly expensive so maybe Kenya?!!
    In the mean time I a leaving in 3 days for Madagascar and I can't wait!

      Wow I would love to go to Madagascar they have so many unique animals. My ex went there to start up horse racing but sadly it was when we had already parted company!

  8. First cherries then raspberries which are my all time favorite. You have much patience with the insects. Love the hover fly stare down.
