We saw these sunflowers close to Voulême, Poitou-Charentes, where we had planned to visit....
As above.
We crossed La Charente river to enter the town.
Eglisse Saint Hilaire
as above, but sadly the only door we could find, see above, was closed
Next to the church was Edna's, a pub ,tea rooms and restaurant which is where we had planned on stopping off for a drink....
The pub inside. We had a drink and some yummy chocolate cake ! Not on the diet!
Opposite the church was this B & B, La Lavandiėre. The owner was outside tending the garden so we stopped to speak to him. The short hello became a very long chat with lots of memories involved when we discovered he was from South Africa. The house has just been completely restored and it looks like the ideal spot to stay for someone visiting the area.
On the other side of the road behind the church, these 4 horses were quietly grazing.
Driving back home past maize fields...
poppies...
and quite close to home, where Nigel had spotted them the day before cycling minus his camera, were these alpacas...
as above...
as above.
Beautiful pictures as usual Diana and always somewhere new x
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, I am feeling very guilty and we have been saying for weeks that we must phone you. If you have no visitors let me know and we will make a plan. Diane xx
DeleteDiane, I love the church and the restaurant! And the Alpacas are beautiful and look very well cared for. The poppies always bring me much joy, and I love the views and horses!

DeleteOh.....such pretty sunflowers! So bright and colorful! I would not mind having my whole back yard looking like that.
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers also they are always smiling LOL. Keep well Diane
DeleteYou must be weary of these temperatures in the thirties day after day.
ReplyDeleteDavid I would far rather have temperatures over 30 than under 20. Neither of us can cope with the cold which obviously you are very used to! Cheers Diane
DeleteBeautiful sunflowers and maize fields. Pretty poppies and great sighting of alpacas. Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great day also Nancy. The alpacas were looking very happy with life :-) Diane

I also love sunflowers, our happy flowers :-) It is hot, but I prefer too hot to too cold!! We need rain though I am struggling to keep the garden watered. Diane
