11/09/2017 Busy in the kitchen ! A few garden shots.

Maximum temperature 19C, minimum 13C. 16 km/h NW wind with 41 km/h gusts. 4mm of rain overnight.  More rain forecast for the rest of the week.
Rosemary beetle.

Small white (Pieris rapae) on the lavender.

Caterpillar of the small white butterfly on the radish leaves!!

Bombylius species also on the lavender.

Speckled Wood.

The first flower on the Christmas cactus.

Figs.

Quince jam...

Quince jelly.  This is the darkest I have ever made it - very concentrated but tastes great.

    1. Thanks Anne we are lucky that we have so much small wild life around, it makes photos easy but with winter approaching the insect mainly vanish:-( Take care and look after yourself. Diane and Nigel x

  3. You've really captured the colours in that rosemary beetle and they stand out even more on the matt leaf. The second photo though, is just stunning - a delicate "fairy" on the lavender - could be an illustration for a children's book. Beautiful.

    1. The rosemary beetle is the prettiest we have in the garden it is sad that they are a pest :-(( Soon the lavender and the butterflies will be over until next spring the finding photos gets much more difficult! Thanks as always for your kind comments, cheers Diane

    1. Our trees are quite big but as they were hit by the frost earlier this year the crop is smaller than usual. I am hoping that I can get enough to dehydrate a batch. Enjoy your fig :-) Diane

    1. Those autumn flowers spread like mad, a friend gave me a few some years ago and now I have masses of them. I don't mind though they are gorgeous at this time of the year. Have a good day cheers Diane
