22/03/2018 Not much around to take photos of today !!

Maximum temperature today 9C, minimum -2C.   Dry; 8 km/h North Easterly winds with up to 25 km/h gusts.  Heavy frost and less wind today.

We both managed to get out into the garden to do a bit of weeding and cutting back today,  the wind had settled somewhat and it was reasonably pleasant.
First buttercups.

I think this is a bee but not sure which one.

Also probably a bee.

A fly, they are always the first to return!

Dandelion.

Violas.  Hardy little flowers.

Topinambour dug from the garden today, there are masses of them!
(Jerusalem artichoke).

  1. I don't think I have ever eaten Jerusalem artichokes. Are they good?

    1. David we love them, they make amazing soup, great lightly fried with onions or raw in a salad. A number of people complain that they cause wind ! Thankfully they do not effect either of us :-) Have a good day, Diane

    1. It is great to see some of the wild flowers back. They should not be in the lawn but I really do not mind. Take care, Diane

  4. Wonderful macros Diane, your spring garden must look a picture!
I'm happy to say it was obviously a side effect from the blood pressure pills that caused my cough and now after a week of the new pills the cough is almost gone.. hallelujah! 😊 Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    1. Pleased to hear your cough is going, wish mine was! The garden looks quite dull really, just a few splashes of colour that one has to look for, not obvious! I wanted to cut the grass today after two days dry, but despite charging the battery on the mower it would not start! Rain has started again so the grass just gets longer!!! Enjoy the weekend Diane

    1. I never see a dragon fly here, we are not that close to a river or dam, sad they would be good for photos. Hope that you also have a good weekend, Diane x

  12. If it's like here, there's always a false spring. But the bugs know best.
