03/08/2018 Just a few photos to let you know that I am still around!

Rain promised next week but by then it might have gone away, It has a habit of doing that.  From record rainfalls to almost record continuous temperatures.

This moth was on the wall of the office this morning.  Very tiny but pretty. I would guess at one of the micro-moths.

Bumblebee on the lavender.

Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus)

As above.

As above.

Calendula and bug

Poppy.

Great presentation of steak tartare in a restaurant last Saturday.  Also served with an extra dish of chips.

  1. Steal Tartare is something I have never had the urge to try. And if I haven’t done it until now, I doubt that I ever will. Medium rare in the barbecue is my favourite way of eating steak.

    1. David I was well treated by a Belgian couple (from the Congo when they had to get out) when I first moved to RSA. I rented the downstairs of their house and they treated me like one of the family. Although I have always eaten steak bleu, I had never eaten tartare. It is now one of my favourite dishes. Have a good weekend Diane

    1. Grace we are lucky we have a stone house with very thick walls, the house is always cool. Walking outside though is like a blast from a furnace. No matter what, I prefer too hot to too cold!! Enjoy your weekend Diane

  6. Wow! Your temperatures are still so hot. We too were supposed to have much needed rain but it never came. *sigh. I know I won't be saying that in a few months, lol. The steak tartare looks very delicious and so nicely presented.

  7. Our weather is getting more bearable these few days. Very nice food presentation. I like the plate they used to serve the food and the salad placed in a container that looks like a small flower pot. Have a happy weekend!

    1. NancyI guess that plate was special for steak tartare, with all the ingredients in the containers ready to mix to the flavours required including the usual egg yolk in yet another small container. Yes the salad was in a flower pot, something differnt. Have a good weekend Diane

  8. We have been seeing on our news about the heat wave gripping Europe. We are in drought... and not looking forward to our Summer at all. You heatwave is not a good sign for things to come for us.

  9. Hey Diane:I noticed your comment on Phil Slade’s blog. We saw Shelducks at Le Teich with Noushka. In fact that was one of the target species she wanted to photograph that day, the other was Great Crested Grebe.

  11. Been missing your lovely pics. We are setting at 76 in Nashville TN right now and it is 7:50am. Looking at a high of 93 once again today, hoping the humidity stays away. Chance of pop up thunderstorms. BRING it on, my creek is yelling for water and my yard could stand a good watering from mother nature.

  12. Seems like you deal with a similar situation when it comes to rain as we in the SW. Either it floods, or we are in drought. Love the presentation, and the steak tartare which I haven't eaten in forever.

  13. Splendid photos Diane, loved the flying critters and the pretty flowers. Great presentation of your steak tartare too. Part of an enjoyable meal is how it looks on the plate I find. It is a real art.
