18/11/2018 A lunch and a drive last Friday - I am a bit behind myself!

Maximum temperature today 5C, minimum 1C.  Dry; 22km/h North-easterly winds gusting up to 47 km/h.  Very cold and our first frost this season.
It is going to be colder tomorrow!!

I love these forest areas with the autumn colours...

but sadly some areas are spoilt by the wind turbines!

Driving through Vadelle.

Arriving at Marcillac-Lanville, this is one of the pilgrim routes and the cutouts are here to remind us.

Inside the restaurant, Les Nymphéas...

I was quite taken by the African screen.

Onion soup for starters.  They brought a bowl to the table to help ourselves and it was so good we both had two helpings.

I forgot to take a photo of the second course which was chopped ham, salad and feta.  This was the main course of fish and it was delicious.

We had three slices of different cheeses and French bread,  before finishing off with a coffee eclair (my choice from a selection) and espresso coffee.
All served with a decanter of wine for €14 each. Great value.

Driving home we saw this house covered in Virginia creeper.  Wonder how many insects live in there!

Back home today; probably the last of the flowers with the weather change - Calendula...

Cosmos...

As above...

As above...

Climbing rose.

A visit from the European robin (Erithacus rubecula) early this morning.

I have updated my bird blog HERE.

  3. I love when you and Nigel go to lunch, and share photo's. The food looks quite good, especially the fish. Fish and shrimp are probably my most favorite!

You still can enjoy the flowers right now; I'm not seeing any here anymore. But, it is cooler now.

Happy Thanksgiving, Diane, if I don't see you here until then.

    xoxo

    1. Thanks Sally, we do not celebrate thanksgiving, I think it is mainly an American 'thing' but I appreciate the thought and hope that you have a good thanksgiving. Take care Diane

  8. That first photo really reminds me of childhood walks in the Fall near the family home except I was on a path in the woods not a highway. How I loved those walks. The love for Fall and Fall foliage has stayed with me all these years. I also love the interior of the restaurant you showed. I really do love French country style. I also love the food you are showing. My I can almost taste it through your photos. And, as always, the little birds and garden scenes are wonderful. Have a terrific week ahead, Diane.

    1. Thanks Penny for the comment and yes I also love trees and forests, thankfully here so long as the hunters are not out it is safe to walk around in the wooded areas, I would not do in in the UK! Neither would I walk out at night on my own there but I feel safe here. Hope the rest of the week is good for you. Keep well Diane

  10. Love your fall colors...would have really LOVED if ours had lasted more then a few days. But rain seems to take care of that. Surprised you still have such pretty blooms on your flowers. Food looks YUMMY....but it always does.

    1. The lovely blooms are pretty much gone now, though the choisya ternata seems to be surviving the frost. Most of our leaves just dropped with the heavy frost Wednesday and I went out with the mower yesterday afteroon and picked them all up - compost for next year 😊 Take care Diane
