28/02/2019 Out for a walk in the sun yesterday. (6 kms)

Maximum temperature today 15C, minimum 6C.  Dry with a bit of damp in the air; rain was forecast but it did not happen.  21km/h North-westerly winds with gusts up to 45 km/h.

Yes, more lambs, but it is the first thing I see as I leave home in our neighbour's field.
The cow jumped over the moon Ooops, the lamb jumped over the lamb...

Baaaaaaa, wait for me Mum....

Ah, there she is.

Looking back across the fields, there is our hamlet on the horizon.

I love these country walks.

A sleepy calf next to the road...

Mum is looking on.

All the green at this time of the year is either ivy or mistletoe, this tree has both.

Walking through another forest area.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis) growing next to a small house I passed.

Lawn daisies (Bellis perennis) are everywhere, note the 2 small beetles.

The very first cowslips (Primula veris) of 2019.

A dandelion clock.

Fields ready for planting.

A farmer's dog.

Reflections in the dam with a farm in the background.

I saw several Red Admiral butterflies (Vanessa atalanta) but this was the only one that stopped for me. There were also a lot of Brimstone Butterflies (Gonepteryx rhamni) around but they were all in a hurry!

Back in our hamlet a neighbour's Pigeonnier...

and daffodils next door.

I have updated my bird blog HERE.

  1. Looks like a wonderful bucolic area, and I admit to being a tad evious of all the greenery.

    1. It is a lovely area and so peaceful only 10 houses in our hamlet and lots of walking areas around where I seldom see anyone or a vehicle. Strange though not a lot of birds, or not ones that are easy to photograph. The green is a huge improvemnet on the white 😊 Have a good weekend Diane

  2. Great photos! I love all the farm animals and the dog too. Pigeonnier is new to me, not sure what that is. The plowed field looks great and brings back many memories of farm living. It will be a long while till we see daffodils here, more bitter cold weather on the way plus snow. Can't wait to see beautiful sunny daffodils like these. Thanks, Diane!

    1. Hi Pam, a pigeonnier is simply the French name for a pigion house. We are having a cooler spell at present but it is not really cold. Hope your spring arrives very soon. Take care Diane

    1. Becuase the weather has been good I have seen the lambs so much more this year. Sadly it has cooled down now and got very windy, not pleasant to be out in. Cheers Diane

  9. Oh I love daffodil's but if I planted here the grasshoppers would eat them like they do everything else. It's quite depressing 'cause everywhere I've lived before I had so many pretty flowers and blooming bushes. However, I will say our azalea's are blooming beautifully right now; they're late in the season and they don't last very long. I need to get out there and take some pics.

I've miss you, Diane since I was gone. You always have such nice posts and awesome photo's.

    xoxo

    1. You obviously have a huge grasshapper problem, pity. Our Azaleas are still only in bud but the camellia is just coming out. Thanks for the very kind comment. Take care Diane xx
