Hi Diane .. they are wonderful birds - the woodpeckers .. is it a great spotted ... we get the green ones here ... wonderful shots you've given us of a selection of the little things coming to life as Spring is on its way ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHa ha Hilary no I did not publish it! We have both Green and Great Spotted here but seldom do I ever see them, they hide well and once the leaves are back on the trees...... Yes I really do feel that spring is around the corner, but we are going to get more cold weather I am sure. We often get a frost in May to upset the garden!!
DeleteI think your idea of recording weather criteria is excellent!
ReplyDeleteYou can then compare from year to year the variations....
Your pics are very explicit about spring, it is really round the corner!
Love your shy female pecker and your sparrows having a serious conversation!! LOL!
Keep well Diane, enjoy your day!
Thanks Noushka, it is interesting to see the weather difference. I wish I had a hide outside to get these shots instead of through the window, but I feel the cold too much and I am impatient so I would never survive! Hope all is well with you Diane
DeleteThe woodpecker is really lovely. I had no idea that they were so colourful.
ReplyDeleteCraig the female is dull compared to the male (now should I really say that LOL) but he has a pinker breast and a dab of red and black spot at the upper part of the chest. They both have a dab of red on the back of the head which to cannot see in these photos.. Have a good weekend Diane
DeleteGreat shots Diane. I especially love the shot of the frost on the plant.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam, it was a very chilly morning! Hope you are well Diane
