04/05/2021 Lockdown remains much the same.......

 The maximum temperature here today 15⁰C, minimum 5⁰C.  Dry though 90% rain is forecast!! Maybe tonight. (Yes, it has started 20h09).  22km/h  South Westerly winds with gusts up to 56 km/h.    Rain forecast for most of this week and the temperatures rise again a little.  The garden I hope will be happy!

Please Note if you follow me by email the old feeder is closing down. I have tried to change servers but for some reason, it is not working!  Update: it appears to be working now let me know if there is a problem with adding your address!!

Spanish Bluebells.

Buttercups (Ranunculus bulbosus).

Camillia (Camellia Japonica).

Geranium.

Spanish Iris (Iris xiphium).

Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera Buckleyi) with its dates a bit mixed up!

Cymbidium Orchid.

Thirsty Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera).

Fire bug. (Pyrrhocoris apterus) better known as the Gendarme beetle.  I always think they look like African masks!

Eristalis similis (Glass-winged Dronefly) a member of the Hoverfly family...

I was fascinated watching it as it appeared to be stretching and cleaning each part of its body. A video would have been good but I could not send it anywhere as it would have taken a week to download it on this WiFi speed...

The caterpillar of the Jersey Tiger Moth (Euplagia quadripunctaria).

I wonder now what the time is 🕤😊

26/04/2021 Still in lockdown!!

   Maximum temperature here today 23⁰C, minimum 12⁰C.  Dry though rain was forecast!!   14km/h  North-Easterly winds with gusts up to 30 km/h.    Looks like the chill returns again next week after a week of summer-like temperatures!

The garden is going to be in shock again next week as the temperature drops.  There is also rain forecast, but if it is anything like today we will not see it!  We need rain as the garden is very dry.

A near perfect Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria).

Around the garden. Top: Choisya ternata, Camellia, Pansy. Middle: Black Tulip, Pansy, Spanish Bluebells,. Bottom: Wilds Bluebells. Peony and Pansy.

Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera).

This bee has got me stumped so far still trying to find ID...

18/04/2021 After a week of frosts and icy winds it looks like spring is returning.

  Maximum temperature here today 15⁰C, minimum 4⁰C.  Dry.   9km/h  North-Easterly winds with gusts up to 22 km/h.     Next week it looks like spring is really returning, hopefully for good this time.

Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) taking a drink.

Bumblebee (Bombus magnus) in the quince tree...

Cranefly (Tipulidae).

Blossom on one of the Acer trees.

European Orchard Bee (Osmia cornuta) on the apple blossom. A solitary bee...

Lilac.

Speckled wood (Pararge aegeria) and Persian Speedwell flower (Veronica persica).

Not sure what this bee is, I did not get to see its body, maybe one of the sweat bees!

House centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) 15 pairs of legs, think it is missing a few! Without the flash...
