16/11/2016 A few random photos only today.

Maximum temperature 14C, minimum 7C. 26 km/h SW wind. 1.5 mm rain measured, but the air was damp all day with a sort of very fine drizzle.

Went for a hair cut today.

Waiting in the car for Nigel who was in the chemist - you can see how wet it was!

Driving through Chasseneuil.

Acer seeds, next spring they will be coming up everywhere!

Lone leaf still hanging on.

Must bring in the last of the apples!

Hellebore in bud.

Moss and lichen on the acer.

The last rose bud which I do not think will ever open.

The sage.

Look carefully - two little green shoots - the first of the broad beans coming up.

Playing games with a photo giving it a windy outlook!

What a lovely random series, Diane! I love the rain photo, the street scene and the store front especially! And I love the effects in the last photo. I also love the rain droplets, too! Love this series!

Shadows Along the Zambezi by Diana M. Hawkins

I so enjoyed this book and towards the end I could not put it down only finishing at 2am! Having lived most of my early life in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, so many places had a lot of meaning to me. Diana’s knowledge of every detail in this book is incredible.
Sadly, so much of this story is fact and very true. It made me cry and at times it made me smile. I hope that it might awaken the world as to what is going on in many African countries, and instead of so many people burying their heads in the sand, perhaps they might stand up and do something. Smuggling and hunting are very soon going to leave the world a very sad place when there are no animals left.
Now I am off to read Shadows over an African Heart.

Shadows Over an African Heart: a novel by Diana M. Hawkins

Shadows over an African Heart is the perfect name for this book. The shadows are even bigger than I ever dreamt, and this book is a real eye-opener to the truth of what is going on. I was in tears in many places in this book. The fictional side story I so enjoyed, but the true and very sad story of the elephants and other animals; the Zimbabwe government has so much to answer for.
The world needs to read both of Diana’s books and action needs to be taken before the children of today never see wildlife as we have had the joy to grow up with around us.
There are many African words in the story which to me were great to be reminded of, but many are explained as you read and there is a good glossary of the words in the back of the book.
