25/04/2017 More of the same!

Maximum temperature 16C, minimum 3C.  23 kmh NE wind, 34 km/h gusts.  Overcast and light rain.
Cherries.

Crane fly

Dog rose.

The longhorn beetle is still around despite the cooling weather....
Cerambyx cerdo, commonly known as the great capricorn beetle - Thanks Noushka.

As above.

Peonies will be open very soon.  Note the small bug on the left!

Bluebells are starting to go over but will be around for a few more days.

For the record - New veggie garden at the back and moving some of the turf to a spot closer that Nigel has dug out as it was full of weed.

The new small garden will be next to the green house, not fenced, so we can plant nothing here that the rabbits might fancy!

  1. Gardening takes so much work, esp to keep the weeds out. My version of a garden in tomato's growing in a pot! haha....looks great.

    1. It is quite a big garden, and we already have a good size vegetable garden, but when things like pumpkins take over there is not so much room!! Diane

  2. I love everything in your photos, Diane, even the insects! I do see beetles around in Montreal at times, but none like in your photos. I love the patterns on it. Thank you so much for sharing.

  3. Hello Diane,
WOW, your cherries are well advanced!
Love your photos, your garden looks great, I am sure you will manage goodies for the 2 of you and not to the taste of rabbits, although that is difficult! LOL!
Your capricorn beetle is gorgeous, no surprise you found it on these flowers!
Warm hugs and enjoy the rest of the week :)

    1. I only hope this cold spell with rain does not ruin the cherries as it did last year!!
Anything that rabbits like will remain in the fenced garden :-))
Thanks for the name of the beetle I have added it to the post with a link to you.
Keep warm and dry the rest of the week does not look that good! Big hugs Diane

    1. Thanks Nancy, I think the smaller vegetable garden will probably have the pumpkins in it as the rabbits do not seem to eat those!! Take care Diane

    1. I am just hoping that the forecast rain and cold weather does them no harm. Last year we had none at all, they rotted at the last minute due to all the rain!!! :-(((( Diane

    1. I would be happy to have them around if they did not attack the veggie garden! The main garden is fenced so I will keep things like beans, which they love (also the mice like them as well!) inside the fenced area. Mice though are impossible to stop! Take care Diane
