02/08/2017 Photos hard to come by today. I cut the lawn, so all the flowering weeds have gone that the butterflies love!!!

Maximum temperature 31C, minimum 14C.   12 km/h NE winds with 16 km/h gusts.  Dry.
Calendula.

Lonely little petunia......

A not very good photo of a Speckled wood butterfly.

Roses...

White crab spider I think (Misumena vatia)

As above.

Unknown, but I do not like the curled abdomen, bet it stings!

Fennel in the vegetable garden.

Figs.

Granny Smith Apples.

Quinces

Freshly dug potatoes and parsnips.

A squash hiding under the leaves.

Last but not least the moon hiding behind the clouds just as the sun was setting.  A hand held shot.

  1. I was interested to see your figs. I had fresh figs for the first time at Noushka's house. I had only previously had dried figs. The fresh ones were deeeelicious!

    1. Yum yum we love them as well. Hopefully I can dry a lot as well as eat them fresh. We have two quite big trees. Cheers Diane

  4. So lovely, moon capture!

Ahhhh yes, this is what I mean, by Autumn beginning in Aug. Overflowing gardens. Etc.

Oh sigh, all the wildflowers gone? Not even a back corner, left for the butterflies? Maybe..? :-)

    1. The wild flowers (weeds) will grow back much faster than the grass so they will soon be back I hope. Its a viscous circle, I want the bugs but I do not want the weeds all over the lawn! The plums are starting to fall though now and the butterflies love the rotting ones :-) Cheers Diane

  6. White crab spider....strange. I know I have seen things like that but to me....its just a SPIDER! haha. Great pics. The project I am working on for my sis in law is a quilt block - 4x4 and it will hang on the barn! Here in the south that is a thing that people do!

    1. I agree a spider is a spider, but if they are in the garden and not in the house, and they keep their distance for me to take photos I put up with them to a degree!!!!
Quilt block, interesting, something I have never seen or heard of before.
      Take care Diane
