09/09/2017 Nigel goes to market.

Maximum temperature 18C, minimum 12C. 11 km/h NW wind with 32 km/h gusts. 15mm of rain overnight and more today - not measured yet.
Saturday morning market in Chasseneuil...

as above.

Our chemist's shop has just been totally refurbished and has had a face-lift outside.  So much smarter inside and out!

This is the main road through Chasseneuil; we enter the town from the road on the left

Coming into the main road from our direction - there used to be traffic lights here, but they stopped working 5 years ago!  Then the whole town was bypassed, taking away the endless queues of heavy  lorries.

Now it looks as if there is a  (small) new roundabout being added - can you see the painted circle on the road in red?

Market day means oysters for lunch with cider - yum yum.

The only shot  I got of this rainbow out of the back door before it faded.

A little later the setting sun...

As above.

If you are interested Part 3 of our holiday in South Africa is up and running on my other blog.

  1. Great sunset - they are getting a little earlier each day, and the mornings are cooler. When I left for the mist nets at 6:15 this morning it was a mere 4 degrees.

    1. Strange how sometimes they skies are so red at night and others they are so yellow as last night. Not sure what causes the change. Take care and have a good week Diane

  3. Oh, those photos of the sky are awesome, and beautiful, Diane.

I love oysters, but they need to be cooked just a bit. LOL

Hope you and Nigel are enjoying the weekend.

    1. We love oysters as well but we both prefer raw to cooked which makes my life in the kitchen very much easier!!

    1. No water problem here, we are on high ground. The garden still can do with more rain we have not had as much as we normally get yet. Cheers Diane

  5. Those oysters look delicious and I bet they are simply divine paired with cider. I do love local markets, especially where you can get local produce directly from the farmers. Looks like things are started to cool down a little, and, what stunning colours in your sky shots.

    1. Thanks Grace, I agree markets are fun though we seldom buy fruit or veg as we have so much of our own. Glad that you are enjoying our African trip. Take care Diane

    1. The first thing we noticed when we went to RSA earlier in the year was the rubbish and plastic bags, we had forgotten how bad it is there and how clean it is here!!! Take care. Cheers Diane

    1. I prefer roundabouts to lights. At least you con go when the road is empty and not wait for the lights to change :-) Trouble is when busy, people do not indicate and then you waste time waiting! It is getting quite chilly here despite those skies which are now grey! Cheers Diane
