Maximum temperature 26C, minimum 8C. 13 km/h SE wind with 16 km/h gusts. Dry and a pretty nice day all round.
Bee on the autumn crocus/daffodils
Possibly one of the leaf beetles.
Great tit (Parus major)
Carpenter bee (Xylocopa)
Common blue (Polyommatus icarus)...
As above female.
Cotoneaster looking like it is a good year for berries.
Love the colours of the euonymus in autumn.
Fritillary, I have not made up my mind which one though, help required please.
Dehydrator full of figs and carrots.
For those that are interested Part four of our trip to Botswana and Southern Africa is HERE
I am always impressed by your coverage of so many insects. And that dehydrator looks like a pretty efficient device.
ReplyDeleteAlways plenty around the garden when the weather is warm not so good in winter. The dehydrator is great. Keep well Diane
DeleteMy sis in law and brother dry their fruits and stuff....if she is not canning things. Beautiful pics.
ReplyDeletePam it is so easy to store dehydrated food and it takes up little space. I love the machine :-) Take care Diane
DeleteFlowers, insects, and food although not necessarily together are some of my favorite things.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more Emma and not necessarily in that order :-) Hope you have a good week Diane
DeleteOh my, I absolutely love dried fruit and veggies. I'd like to dehydrate my own but don't have a dehydrater. I know there's a way you can do it in the oven, but I just haven't had the time to figure it out yet. I LOVE figs.
ReplyDeleteI tried in the oven but had nothing like the success I have had with the real thing. There are some reasonably priced ones on the market not as big as mine which would not take up too much space. We also love figs. Fresh and warm from the sun, just perfect :-) Happy week, cheers Diane
DeleteYummy! Dried figs sound delicious! I've never tried dried carrots.
ReplyDeleteThe vegetables all make great soups or casseroles. The fruit we generally just eat though I do put it in cakes as well. Hope the week is good for you Diane
DeleteFabulous, like David I always enjoy your bees and the like. Hope someone can help with the ID.
ReplyDeleteHa, read the comment below as Noushka says fritillaries are very difficult and there was another one today!! Cheers Diane
DeleteHi Diane,
ReplyDeleteI am really amazed at the the sharpness you get now in your photography, great work!
I will not get into the fritillary ID now, they are very difficult to determine and I lack time ;-)
Warm hugs from.... the rain!!!
Ha ha there was another fritillary today as well, they are easier to identify I think with closed wings but these do not oblige me with both open and closed!
DeleteThanks for the very kind comment from you it is more than appreciated.
Rain this afternoon but the garden was needing it again! Warm hugs Diane
Love the winter crocus, not so much the leaf beetles, they can wreck havoc amongst the plants! You must have a pantry full of delicious pickled and dried produce to see you through winter Diane ☺
ReplyDeleteNigel put up shelves for me in the barn a few years ago and there is not a spare inch of space there. The potatoes, pumpkins and dried 'stuff' is all in another place! We are also away for about 5 weeks mid-winter so we will never run short of food while here! Cheers Diane
DeleteMust do a search on dehydrators.
ReplyDeleteNever pass up the chance, for more photos, to choose from!!!! :-)))))
The dehydrator is great. The food takes up so little space, where as frozen and bottled takes up a lot!
DeleteHappy hunting, Diane
Once again the critters and flowers are beautiful! You have abundant harvest of figs! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLots and lots of figs suddenly so lots of drying them :-)) Hope you also have a good day. Diane
DeleteI am always amazed by how many insects we have in common being so far away from each other.
ReplyDeleteI agree there are many which are the same. David who follows from Canada has made the same comment. Diane
