09/10/2017 Miserable weather and photos difficult.

Maximum temperature 20C,  minimum 11C.  5km/h NE wind with 13 km/h gusts. Rain not measured.

Think the above temps are up the creek, it is cold, and we have had drizzle (not forecast) on and off!!
Yesterday's day 8 of the rose.

Friends to lunch yesterday.

Today's, day 9 of the rose in the morning...

Meanwhile the bud behind the above rose is still looking good.

Sage, with a crane fly in hiding under the leaf.

A last bit of colour from the euonymus and the last of the zinnias.

Pampas.

The beetles that look like African masks are Le Gendarme beetles (Pyrrhocoris apterus).  I am sure the others are closely related but  I do not know what they are.
Harvestman in the sage. (Hadrobunus grandis).

P.S.  For those interested, Part 5 of our holiday in South Africa and Botswana is now on my other blog.

  1. You are still getting amazing photos, even in the bad weather!

And I love seeing peeks, inside the homes of bloggers. So the bad weather there, is a win for me, here. :-)

Mmmmmm, this weather sounds like our November weather. But then, here, there is nothing pretty left, to picture.

Actually it is raining here, today. Remnants of "Nate" I guess... But it is not cold.

  2. Looks like you guys have been having your share of rain, at least according to the water droplets on your plants! :)...Hope you and your friends enjoyed lunch. I cooked a bday meal for Theresa, we had meatloaf, baked beans, and roasted potatoes along with cornbread...and the cake of course!

    1. We have not had as much this year as normal but we seem to have had a lot just recently!! Lunch was good. Our friends brought the starter which was a Japanese salad. I then cooked leg of lamb with mixed veg and potatoes in foil. A cheese course then chocolate peppermint dessert. Yum yum. Take care Diane

  5. You have a good eye to catch some of those insects amongst the leaves. I suppose when you've been doing it for a while your senses become more attuned to what to look for.

    1. Yes you do get used to looking in the right place. It is like looking for wild animals in the bush, you train your eye to block everything else out. enjoy your day, cheers Diane

  6. I can hardly believe that rose! It's still beautiful, and now another one. I know I keep telling you, but that color is just so beautiful! I also like the pampas grass, and have no idea why I haven't planted any. :)

  11. Gosh there's a lot of insect activity going on there in your garden Diane ☺ Love the apricot rose, one of my favourites and I'm almost one hundred percent sure it will have a glorious perfume. 20C is still lovely weather, here we consider it a coolish day 😀

    1. An amazing perfume, which is why I took a cutting and brought it from the UK. Anything from 20C down is too cold for us!! Too much African blood still in the body LOL. Cheers Diane

  12. The rain drops mix up your photos a bit and yet you still get insects. That rose is determined to hang on. Lunch sounds delish. I too enjoy seeing inside your house. Stay warm.
