07/08/2018 Internet slower than slow!!!

Maximum temperature today 32C, minimum 18C.  Rain forecast for this evening, I hope it happens as I am having to water regularly to just keep everything alive; 22 km/h South-westerly winds with up to 51 km/h gusts.

My patience is running out as our internet speed is infuriating.  It is always slow but this morning it is only 0.48 Mbps I am hoping that eventually some of the photos I have taken in the garden over the last few days will finally load.  With the heat, very few photos have been taken as even the birds and insects are taking cover during the middle of the day.

Busy as a bee...

as above...

as above.

Green Shield bug possibly (Palomena prasina).

Syromastes rhombeus

Brimstone Moth (Opisthograptis luteolata)

Unknown moth possibly a micro moth?

Kalanchoe flower.

Climbing rose.

Inside, this is the first orchid I have had flower for some time.

P.S.
Just heard two massive explosions, very scary the whole house shook and my heart rate took off. Our neighbour says it was a plane breaking the sound barrier............
P.P.S
On the news already apparently it was two planes!

  1. Your slow internet speed must be a real frustration. Is there any hope for improvement?

    1. Nigel wrote to the President of Charente to ask if they could do something about it. He replied in quite a long letter, but the gist of the whole thing was that they did not have the money to make improvements! Even if they update in the local village there is not guarantee that it would affect us, we are 1.6 kms away!!! :-( Diane

    1. Gaelyn I have never heard a plane breaking the sound barrier before and these were right overhead when it happened. From a very quiet road outside, suddenly eveyone had run out to see what was going on. The carpenter was here doing the new doors on our barn and he is also a pompier (fireman). He was on duty and he was just waiting for a call to say a fuel tanker had exploded down on the main road. That was what it sounded like. All was well though and it was on the news minutes later. Take care Diane

    1. LOL saying NO is not always easy. I find it has been harder to keep up with life since I retired, I seemed to have much more time when I worked all day! Take care Diane

  6. Wow you are having a tough time with the heat and no rain. Not to mention sound barrier boom. I hope things cool down for you soon. We, on the other hand are having a cold snap. 4°C in the morning but it warms up to the 20's in the day. We've had a warm winter so far. Those photos are magic especially the second bee one.

  8. Despite the heat you took some beautiful shots here Diane, the pollen covered bee was a delight! Bit scary when you hear such loud explosions, these days that could mean anything!

    1. Grace you are right, explosions nowadays could mean anything and generally not good news. We have a cooler day today and a drop of rain last night, but the heat looks like it will return tomorrow. Hope all is well Diane

    1. Hi there, I have now found the Wild Dogs and what fabulous photos. I am so sorry we did not see them on our last trip to RSA.
We never have a fast connexion, but when it goes under 0.5 it is all but useless!
You sound like you are very busy, I am not sure how you keep up with all the photos you take. I still have masses from earlier in the year that I have not been through yet!!!
Take care and slow down a bit, hugs Diane

  11. Wow...that little bee will be spreading pollen all over! Great.....ah choo!! Great pics. Like you I have been hoping for some rain, we have been having hit and miss showers but today...it hit us! It was great sitting out on the deck with the drops (big ones) hitting the tin roof. The wind picked up and knocked a bunch of small branches out of the tree. We have needed the rain but my yard actually has been holding up well.
