Built 1000 years ago on a gigantic rock, the Château de Belcastel began with a 9th century chapel, and grew over the centuries as generations of knights, nobles and rogues built their legacies within the stronghold. Then the Château‘s story came to an abrupt halt in the late 16th century, when the fortress was abandoned and left to ruin.
