04/03/2018 A trip to Limoges.

Maximum temperature today 11C, minimum 5C.   12mm of rain measured for yesterday and it is raining here again now; 15 km/h South Westerly winds with up to 41 km/h gusts.

Sorry, I am getting far behind with the diary as not many photos have been taken!!
Sunrise; a rare occasion for us, but we had a very early appointment at the hospital for Nigel.

As above.

Another very rare sighting for us living in the country, graffiti on a bridge wall.

A drive by shot of a fire engine.

Limoges Hospital.

Road works on the return trip.

Thermes de Chassenon; the site of Gallo Roman remains, well worth a visit if you are in the area, I have written about it here

Rochechouart Chateau.

Friends for dinner Friday night...

I made sushi snacks.

14/08/2017 Been out almost all day, photos taken from the car so lots of reflection in places! Back to nature tomorrow!

Maximum temperature 23C, minimum 15C.   5 km/h NE wind with 14 km/h gusts.  Dry.
I just love all the forest areas we drove through today.

Mortemart - We have decided that this is a place we will visit, lots of history and one of Frances most beautiful villages so it seems

If you have not heard about this place and its terrible story I have written about it here

Limoges in the distance, a town famous for its pottery amongst other things

Getting closer.

One of the largest university hospitals in the country I believe.

Winding roads and trees :-) looking for somewhere to buy a lunchtime snack, but all the ones we had previously looked up were closed!

Warning that further down the road is a tractor mowing the sides of the road.

On our way home we stopped at Leclerc in Saint Junien to shop.  Not my best idea, they are changing the whole shop around, so finding anything was very difficult in a shop that we do not use normally anyway!

Just look at all those trees :-)

Back in Chasseneuil this little shop sells leather-goods, haberdashery and gifts.

The shoe shop next door, see the shoe boxes piled up painted on the wall next to the yellow door.  (The latter was for Pam :-))

16/06/2017 The remainder of yesterday's photos in Confolens and three from the garden back home today.

Maximum temperature 24C, minimum 10C. 18 kmh NE wind.  Dry.
The old pedestrianised bridge across La Vienne see yesterday.

Looking from the old bridge towards the new bridge built for for vehicles...

and on the other side...

and looking back....

also on the other side the old convent of St Clare.  In 1792 that became the local hospital...

Sadly a brand new hospital has now been built...

and this old place is now looking very abandoned...

with over grown gardens hiding the old statues.  Last time I saw it in 2012 the place was in working order with immaculate gardens :-((

Walking along by the side of the river, we saw this building with what looked like it had a loading platform at one stage.  Long gone and we will never know what it loaded.

Similar photo across the river to yesterday but from a different place.

Before returning home we had a cold drink and a cake at The Irish Belle.  Very friendly and the cake was delicious.

Back home the rose is surviving the weather.

Le gendarme beetle or firebug ( Pyrrhocoris apterus)

I just saw this tiny spider on a leaf, I think it is a web spinning spider but I have not idea which one.  It was very difficult to see with the naked eye, probably less than 2mm in size.
