14/08/2017 Been out almost all day, photos taken from the car so lots of reflection in places! Back to nature tomorrow!

Maximum temperature 23C, minimum 15C.   5 km/h NE wind with 14 km/h gusts.  Dry.
I just love all the forest areas we drove through today.

Mortemart - We have decided that this is a place we will visit, lots of history and one of Frances most beautiful villages so it seems

If you have not heard about this place and its terrible story I have written about it here

Limoges in the distance, a town famous for its pottery amongst other things

Getting closer.

One of the largest university hospitals in the country I believe.

Winding roads and trees :-) looking for somewhere to buy a lunchtime snack, but all the ones we had previously looked up were closed!

Warning that further down the road is a tractor mowing the sides of the road.

On our way home we stopped at Leclerc in Saint Junien to shop.  Not my best idea, they are changing the whole shop around, so finding anything was very difficult in a shop that we do not use normally anyway!

Just look at all those trees :-)

Back in Chasseneuil this little shop sells leather-goods, haberdashery and gifts.

The shoe shop next door, see the shoe boxes piled up painted on the wall next to the yellow door.  (The latter was for Pam :-))

  1. Must have been a wonderful road trip :) I love going in those smaller shops rather than the larger stores.

    1. I could not agree more the little shops are so much friendlier, but one cannot do all your shopping in them sadly. Even the big supermarkets we seem to have to go to more than one!!! Cheers Diane

  3. You went to visit a most beautiful village. But most of these photos, seem to show, a much larger place, than a village.

    Yes, I am confused. :-))))

Such a terrible past, of that one place! -sigh-

    1. Yes the past at Oradour is horrific, a very spooky place to walk around. I said that we WILL visit Mortemart, not yesterday, but somewhere we must go to. Yesterday we visited the city of Limoges, for an appointment, we seldom go to cities unless there is a good reason!!! We do not like crowds or concrete jungles. Not sure when we will get to visit Mortemart but we have another place (also a beautiful village) booked for Thursday so we hope it will not rain!!! We have been there before, but I have not taken photos there for some time, so many of my followers will not have seen them.
Watch this space :-) Take care Diane

  4. Thanks for the trip Diane. Such a sad story about Oradour, such a huge reminder must get quite hard to live with sometimes, although they do say you get immune to anything after a while.. your weather has been perfect the last few days ☺

    1. Not sure you ever get immune to Oradour, a very spooky place to walk around and find everything as it was left after 10 June 1944.
Yesterday's weather was gorgeous and we spent the whole day pretty much in the car!!! Today has been grey and to us pretty cool!
      Cheers Diane
