Few surviving sunflowers around now...
The smiling face has drooped...
It looks like the birds have been eating this one...
and another one smiling.
First picking of haricot beans...
Tomatoes and Parsnips...
This pumpkin is in a bit early but the stem snapped!
I made a carrot and pineapple cake...
and a tomato tart for dinner tonight.
Wish you were here Gaelyn you would have enjoyed this :-)
You doooooo grow much of your own foods! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh that tomato tart! It looks as good, as the cake! And for a 'sweet tooth', like mine, that is saying a lot! :-)
We have my necessity to eat Gluten Free here. -sigh- My husband cooks "around" it. But some things, just would have to be both... Regular and G/F.
And.... My G/F-ness is not a fad. When I went G/F and mostly Lactose Free, years and years of all sorts of gastro 'horrors' cleared up. Like magic!!!! I know, that this is _not_ just a fad, with me. :-)
Believe me, life is so much easier, without G/F necessity. I'd never choose this, on a popular whim. Just sayin'... There is so much hype, about it being a fad. -sigh- I'm sure it is, with some. But not, with all.
Hope your lovely late summer weather, continues!!!!

I have typed this message twice and it has disappeared with the internet going down!! Frustrating to say the least of it.
DeleteMy husband has just got hold of our server and they are now monitoring the line!!!!
Our garden is full of flavour and tastes that never come from the shops, we love our home-grown food.
I am sure both those recipes could be made GF quite easily, but as neither of us have to worry about it I would not bother to investigate.
Take care and enjoy your day Diane
I love your beautiful photos, Diane. Sunflowers are my mother's favourite flowers. And your cake seems yummy! Have a great week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Mia, Sunflowers and certainly one of my favourites as they are always so happy looking. Just of to have a coffee now and a slice of cake :-) Take care Diane
DeleteEverything looks tempting and delicious, Diane!
ReplyDeleteIt was very yummy tho' I say it myself. Keep well Diane
DeleteAbsolutely stunning. That first photo - what detail.
ReplyDeleteI do love sunflowers they always have such happy smiling faces :-) Cheers Diane
DeleteYou have a very productive garden and the produce looks fantastic . I would love to taste that tomato tart. I have never heard of it but it sounds and looks delicious .
ReplyDeleteDavid this is the recipe I used, very simple and very tasty http://www.davidlebovitz.com/french-tomato-tart-recipe/ we really enyed it last night ans we still have some left for today. Cheers Diane
DeleteI have never heard of a tomato tart before. That is rather interesting. Love the sunflower shots, esp the one on top where the bee is sticking out. And what a beautiful pumpkin. Tad early for sure but things like that happen.
ReplyDeletePam it is a great tart and well worth trying if you like tomatoes. I have put the link to the recipe on David's reply above. Sure the pumpkin will be fine but maybe not fully mature. I have had them before this early and they were perfect. Take care Diane
DeleteAdmiring your bright smiling sunflower! I have just germinated some haricot beans and hope they will grow well. I have never seen a white pumpkin in my country and I thought that it was painted white! Carrot pineapple cake and tomato tart are making me drool. You not only have green fingers but you also cook very well!
ReplyDeleteHa ha Nancy no the pumpkin is not painted white it is a Boer Pumpkin, seeds from South Africa. I enjoy cooking occasionally but I get bored when it is just every day meals, these two recipes were different and more interesting :-) Take care Diane
DeleteThank you so much for reacting on my writer's blog. Diane, you sunflower pics are super. I agree, I think little birds were on the flower to eat the seed. It is very good for them because of the high oil content in the seed :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a big green beans! Our neighbor also brought me a bucket with beans, She had picked them in her mother's garden. So delicious !!! I like to add saté sauce, roasted (fresh) potatoes from the oven and a steak tartare (viande de bœuf , not raw) I have never eat parsnips.
Oh I love Steak tatare but for me it must be raw :-) Parsnips are delicious and so good roasted. The French only recently seem to have parsnips in the shops for sale, not something that used to eat either.
DeleteHope you are all well, Take care Diane
How wonderful to have a garden, and be able to harvest such lovely vegetables and tomatoes. I'm going to copy the recipe for the tart. Knowing me though, it probably won't be nearly as tasty as yours, Diane. :)
ReplyDeleteSunflowers are among my very favorites!
xoxo
Sally that recipe is so easy I am sure it will taste as good as ours. The only change I made was the goats cheese because my husband does not like it. I used Parmesan instead.
DeleteI also love sunflowers, such happy flowers :-)))
Cheers Diane
Wish I was there too for both the tart and the cake. Happy looking sunflowers.
ReplyDeleteI ALMOST felt guilty eating the tart and the cake with out you :-)))) Diane
