Maximum temperature 29C, minimum 19C. 7 km/h NE wind with 17 km/h gusts. Dry.
Arriving at the town of Mezziers sur Issoire these sheep are permanent features. The sheep fair is of great local importance.
and in the centre of the town :-) I think they are great.
On to the town of Mortemart - the local transport...
Eglise Saint Hilaire built in the 14th century....
The beautiful altar....
The war memorial outside...
The post office....
the 17th century market...
The 10/11th century chateau from the front...
and from the back.
and for the French readers out there.
We then drove on to a town called Montrol-Senard, I loved these cosmos...
and this beautiful house, but so much more to see, so watch this space tomorrow.
Back home another sunset but not as spectacular as yesterday.
Those sheep certainly give character to the place. That first photo though inspires the desire for a long drive in the countryside. Windows rolled down and breathing in fresh air while admiring the nature.
ReplyDeleteI love driving around the country roads in France off the highways, it is so beautiful. I will not have air con on in the car so it is always windows down and fresh air. Have a good day. Cheers Diane
DeleteWow...looks like you had a great time. Pics are really good. On the first pic I love the two sheep but I REALLY love the red metal looking thing that looks like flowers are hanging on. That is really cool.
ReplyDeleteI made sure that I got the flower hanger in the photo, I noticed it just as I was taking the photo. It is very pretty. Take care Diane
DeleteThe statues of the sheep are whimsical and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI have seen them before but never got a photo of them as there was too much traffic around so I was happy to be able to stop for them this time. Cheers Diane
DeleteI love this post. I like all the photos especially the 1st photo and the last 2 photos!
ReplyDeleteI can understand that as i know how you love plants of any kind. :-) Take care Diane
DeleteThanks for the lovely drive through this beautiful part of France. So much history and quaintness.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful country far away from the cities. Clean and well looked after with as you say so much history. Hope all is well t'other Diane
DeleteSo many pretty little towns Diane. I must say seeing all these gorgeous blooms, especially the cosmos, is making me want to head out to the nursery.. we are just about to head into spring, perfect timing! Merci beaucoup pour la inspiration ☺
ReplyDeleteI love cosmos and I usually have a great show at home. This year they did not grow but luckily the zinnias did well. Hope you find what you want for your garden. Bonne journée, Diane
DeleteHow very beautiful, Diane. Thanks for taking us with you! :)
ReplyDeleteThe sunset is awesome.
xoxo
A beautiful country and photos are easy to take when out for a ride in the car. Hope all is well, Diane
DeleteSuch lovely photos! The sun was shining, and really brought out the beauty of the villages.
ReplyDeleteLove the local means of transportation. How can one rush, using that? Or even seeing that, in use. A lovely prompt, for we, who tend to push ourselves, to travel at the "speed of light".... Which is impressed on us, as THE thing to do.
Lovely to be able to see prompts, which remind of us what we know inside...... Living at "the speed of light" is NOT a natural habit.
Gentle hugs,
Luna Crone
I think computers and mobile phones have just made life a continual rush and never any time to just sit and chat and enjoy the world. They were not around much of the time I was working a full day and I had more time then to myself than I do now!! Have a good day Diane
DeleteI always enjoy seeing the places you visit and your tours, Diane! Love photos.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the places here are so different to where you are, so each photo looks different I am sure. Happy weekend Diane
