Mr Blackbird (Turdus merula)...
He got no further than paddling ....
when along came Mr Sparrow (Passer domesticus)
who he chased away in no uncertain manner!
A questioning look?
I planted pansies in this pot, they are no more!
Blue tit acrobatics (Cyanistes caeruleus)
Back to normal.
Great Tit stretching (Parus major) ....
and just looking around.
and the secretive Dunnock looking over the top (Prunella modularis). I seldom see this little bird as it hides in the bushes most of the time.
I love birds! Your photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie for the kind comment. Have a good day Diane
DeleteIt must be lovely having these small friends just outside your door. With regards to weather, there's no turning back now - seems the cold is well and truly on it's way ;-)
ReplyDeleteSadly I think you are right we are definitely heading into cooling down mode!!! I will just be miserable until spring arrives!! Cheers Diane
DeleteJust love the blue! Great photos as always, Diane.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thanks Sally the Blue tits are cute with masses of character. Have a good day Diane
DeleteGreat photos of these beautiful birds, Diane! I love your descriptions, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, not often they are all so keen to have photos taken, it was a lucky day! Hope all is well Diane
DeleteNice bird day. Sorry to hear about the cold and rain coming.
ReplyDeleteWe are also sorry Gaelyn but it had to happen very soon!! Drive safely Diane
DeleteAwesome! I felt like I had a front row seat to a melodrama!!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photos!
Thanks so much Doniene for your very kind comment, much appreciated. Diane
DeleteThank you for sharing your garden birds. Looks like Mr Blackbird does not like company. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThink that blackbird was feeling very stroppy, he chased it away a number of times!! Keep well Diane
DeleteSo that's where our Blackbirds have all gone, Diane! We used to have so many. In fact, yesterday I looked at an old set of garden records and found that one day we had 24 in the garden (a pie's worth) at one time. For the past couple of months they seem to have disappeared and we think ourselves lucky if we get just one - very worrying!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a good week. With my very best wishes - - - Richard
Ha ha blackbird pie for the king, maybe that is where they went! We do not have that many, but there are generally several around. I found a dead female the other day on the lawn :-( probably one of the wild cats that float around here. The do not eat them just kill for the fun of it Grrrrr. If it had of been a sparrowhawk I think it would have been obvious.
DeleteTake care and enjoy the rest of the week, cheers Diane
I see you put a rock in the centre of the birdbath too Diane, moi aussi ☺ beautiful series of bird shots.
ReplyDeleteThe rock is mainly to stop the dish from blowing away when they empty it very quickly which they regularly do!!! Thanks cheers Diane
DeleteIsn't it fun to capture a bird in the middle of a song? Great photos.
ReplyDeleteNot too sure about the song here!!! Think there was a lot of cussing and swearing because the sparrow wanted to join in and enjoy the water!!! The blackbird did not approve. Have a happy day Diane
