Maximum temperature today 21C, minimum 9C. Dry; 5 km/h North winds with up to 10 km/h gusts.
No surprise, as soon as we are on the highway - roadworks...
As above.
Leaving the highway, I could not believe how green everything was...
As above.
Green and yellow of winter wheat and rape.
Golden fields of rapeseed.
Apologies for the reflection on the windscreen, but I just loved the carved stonework over the barn door.
Logging. I gather the forests are very well managed in France and in fact, they are getting bigger rather than smaller.
Saint Catherine, we have never been through this town before and it looked a lovely place.
Dignac, (sigh) more roadworks.
Still cannot believe all this greenery.
Almost at Villbois Lavelette...
The chateau and the church up on the hill.
To be continued as we walk around the town and I take photos of this historic place.
N.B. My new bird blog is HERE
Part 6 of the birds I saw last year in Africa.
The geenery came about so quickly it seemed, Diane.
ReplyDeleteIt has been quick, 3 weeks ago there was not a leaf in sight! Take care Diane
DeleteI love how lush and green the roadside is.
ReplyDeleteNot surprising really with the amount of rain we have had this year, and then the sudden rise in temperatures and sunshine. Cheers Diane
DeleteWhat a beautiful drive. I love old buildings and the natural world. I look forward to your next set of photos. Have a good time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, we live in what I think is a beautiful country and we love the countryside. Take care Diane
DeleteBeautiful lush greenery where you are and the temperature is quite nice too. We are quite warm today. I was too hot in my long sleep top and sweat jacket. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer so I think we have finally got to our Spring. It looks like you have too. I understand you when you moan the appearance of roadworks as soon as the weather improves. That is the case here too. It's especially apparent in the snowy areas since the weather is very hard on the asphalt and the highways require patching.
ReplyDeleteThat main road was only finished a few years back Penny, so I cannot understand how it needs repair so soon. I guess too many large and heavy trucks, and constant use!! We are cooling down over the next week if the forecast is right, just as long as we do not return to frosty days it shoud be OK for a short time. Enjoy the better weather, Diane
DeleteNice cool weather to drive and enjoy all the green and pleasant surroundings. Reminds me of driving in the highlands.
ReplyDeleteIt is very pretty everywhere in the counrty at present, lots of greens and golds. Take care Diane
DeleteI agree. All that green is stupendous. The first picture of roadwork looks like a line of small soldiers.
ReplyDeleteLOL soldiers telling us where to go. The sudden green is amazing, thanfully the country side here has a lot of trees so it looks good. Cheers Diane
DeleteI remember the amount of roadwork the last time I was in France. It was so ever present I thought it was part of the national culture!
ReplyDeleteYes I think you are right, but having said that the UK is no better!!! Have a good day Diane
DeleteLook at that BEAUTIFUL green! It just pops in the pics. With all the rain we have been having we are pretty green ourselves. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
ReplyDeletePam I could not believe how quickly the greenery arrived here. It was barren and leafless one week and like magic it turned green. Take care Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, Diane. I love all the greenery as well! I saw quite a bit of road construction on my trip; it can be aggravating but when finished all is better. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Sally the trouble here is they never seem to finish, it just moves along the road to another place!! Have a good day Diane
DeleteI'm not surprised everything is so lush and green Diane, you have had so much rain! I do enjoy coming along on these trips with you and am looking forward to exploring Villbois Lavelette with you ☺
ReplyDeleteAll the rain and then a few day of sun and somebody waved a magic wand :-) I cannot belive the change! Stay well Diane
DeleteWith all the rain you've had no surprise things are really green.
ReplyDeleteNot surprising but it need a bit of sun to work its magic. Cheers Diane
DeleteEven the old town wall. Thanks for the lovely drive.
ReplyDeleteA very pretty, historic town. Cheers t'other Diane
DeleteApart from the roadworks, it looks like you had a restful drive through lush scenery. The buildings are very old but look strong still. Well maintained I suppose. Kim
ReplyDeleteThe French are good on restoration and maintenance. They look after their country. Hope you are well. Diane
