01/11/2018 Another new month!

Maximum temperature today 17C, minimum 9C.  Dry; 20km/h North-easterly chilly winds with up to 44 km/h gusts.

I am really not keeping up with blogging at present, I seem to be busy, and I am also not sleeping well which make me very ratty and miserable!!!

We had the chimney cleaned this past week...

Always such a happy man.  Sadly he is now retired, but he has said he will help us out while the body is still willing ...

It is at the highest part of our house.

Great tits are returning to the garden for winter, they know there is usually food waiting for them...

as above. (Parus major).

Mrs House sparrow cooling down. (Passer domesticus).

The garden supply is dwindling but still more than enough for the two of us....

As above.

Out to lunch last Thursday - what a cheese board 😊

  3. Fun to see the gentleman cleaning your chimney. My father always used to do ours and as children it was great excitement to go outside to see if the brush had made it through to the top and outside. Of course, our house wasn't as tall as yours. Pretty birds, colorful and I'm sure very tasty produce, and the cheeseboard, oh my, I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off all the different varieties. Thanks Diane and enjoy your week :)

    1. With a wood stove it is easier to clean from the top and then vacuum all the rubbish out from inside the wood stove. Much cleaner as well. We get someone in to do it as if we should have a fire we would have prove to insurance that it has been cleaned annually. Yes that cheese board was not easy to decide where to taste 🧀 Happy week Diane

  5. Pretty little bird, Diane! We feed the birds here all winter and enjoy watching them. Great veggie pic, are those acorns with the vegetables? I'm in awe of anyone who can even climb a ladder, much less work on the roof! Have a good week!

  9. I always enjoy seeing your pics! Yep...not sure I could even do,the roof climbing chimney cleaning even if the body would allow! Course balance is an issue when dealing with Fibromyalgia anyway...I can trip and stumble just standing still! Ha

  10. Aaah - one of the things I miss, now that I'm not visiting France several times a year as I used to, is the wonderful choice of cheeses. I bought myself a guide book to French cheeses some years ago, and was enjoying working through the various types. That selection you show looks fabulous.

Your garden produce looks rather wonderful!

With my very best wishes - - - Richard

    1. Not often one sees a cheese platter as good as this one anymore, but my mouth waters when one like this does appear. Yes we also have book on Frnech cheeses but I suspect it is out of date by now!
As for the garden, despite the weather we have done better than expected and we are both beginning to look like a grean bean this year😉 Think we have enough pumpkins and potatoes to see us through winter which is good.
      Have a good day, Diane
