04/11/2018 An odd collection of photos.....

Maximum temperature today 16C, minimum 6C.  Dry; 19km/h South-Easterly winds with up to 38 km/h gusts.

We have had a few cold and damp days so the fire has been working overtime.

Indoors the Christmas cactus has got the months a bit muddled, but it is good as we will be away for Christmas anyway.

We are both Porsche fans as you can see.  I made this garage many years back in South Africa as a present for Nigel.

House Sparrows (Passer domesticus) and Eurasian collared doves (Streptopelia decaocto)

Common crane (Grus grus), also known as the Eurasian crane.  They were milling around in the sky yesterday getting into bigger groups ready to fly South for winter.

Look what the bit of sun brought out...

Bee as above...

and a bumblebee.

The holly is starting to look very pretty.

Petunias after a shower of rain a couple of days back.

Still some roses around.

And for those of you that could not see what I could in the clouds....

Does this help 🎠😉

I have at last updated my bird blog HERE

  1. HAHA...love the horse heads! I love looking for things in clouds! I can't believe that you still have such awesome looking flowers. Mine have seen the last of blooming. I have picked and dried seeds from some of them so I will have them to plant next yr. I have alway been bringing buckets of horse poop to the house to dump on the flowerbeds. Hoping that will help. Beautiful pics.

  2. Diane, I already knew you were an ace photographer; I see you're also talented in making that 'garage' for Nigel. That is so amazing! I know he must have been thrilled!

The petunia's look like what we call here 'Mexican petunia's. I only have one at the moment but looking forward to purchasing more next spring.

Your fireplace looks very comforting. We're actually 'cold' this morning! :)

    1. The fire place is very welcoming even if just to look it at but once it is burning the room can get very hot!! Making the garage was fun and I think he appreciated that I made it for him :-) Hope all is well, take care Diane xx

  3. Beautiful series of shots Diane, the fire looks so cosy and warm, lovely when it's nippy outdoors 😊 Now that you pointed them out the horses are so clear! Must admit I'm a bit of a Porsche fan myself, the older model rather than the new.

    1. Grace we had two of the older 356 Porsches when we were in RSA sadly we nedded the money arriving in the UK. We have also in the past had two older 911's. They are all worth a lot of money now (sigh). Glad that you agree the horses are quite clear 😉 Take care Diane

  4. Porsche fans huh? In my impoverished state I can barely spell Porsche! Actually I have never had a fascination with cars and my VW does me just fine. And I run them until they deserve a trip to the scrap yard. My last vehicle met its demise with 405,000 km on the odometer.

    1. David we had some very old ones in RSA, I wish we had them now they are worth a fortune !! We loved our VW as well, but when in France it is easier to have a car that the French can fix so we have a Renault! Did you see the horses?? Enjoy your week Diane

    2. I am assuming that you are referring to the picture of the clouds. I see no horses. Miriam sees no horses. I think you need to send us a little of the peyote your are using!

    3. You two have no imagination, several others have also seen the horses. Never tried drugs in my life so I can't send you any 👀 you just need to look harder.

    1. Hah ha making the garage was fun and it was it seemed a very popular present. I thought those clouds were obvious but presumably from the reaction they were not 😃. Hope you have a good week. Diane.

  7. I love a crackling wood fire on a cool day. The garage you made for your porsches is wonderful. Well done. I bet Nigel truly loved his birthday gift. You have a lot of beautiful flowers left in the garden. I can't believe some of my flower pots are still in bloom but the weather is not conducive to enjoying them. Will yu be heading to England for Christmas? I thought I'd be away this Christmas but now it looks like I will be home. Enjoy your week.

  9. I like the fire place. My Christmas cactus doesn't seems to grow, looks stunted and no flower. Great clouds with the horse heads. Have a great new week!

    1. Nancy I thought I had killed mine off earlier in the year as I put it in the green house and it was too hot for it, many leaves just fell off. It seems to have recuperated though and there is masses of bud on it again. It has always flowered well. Keep well and enjoy the week Diane

  11. When I live in Australia we used to have a heater like that. We liked to wrap potatoes in foil and cook them inside.
