Maximum temperature today 14C, minimum 7C. 4mm rain measured this morning; as I type this we are having a mixture of more rain on and off. 20km/h North-westerly winds with gusts up to 45 km/h.
So far this year we have had 85 mm, compared to 320 mm last year, and 158 mm in 2017. We may though have messed up January as we were not here, and we took the reading of what was in the rain gauge on our return which was only 16mm.
The only surviving plant from our trip to Amsterdam in 2015. I have just repotted it so I hope I have not killed it off now! Our roofing guy says it looks like 'un lapin' 😉 (a rabbit).
Bergenia cordifolia.
Camellia.
Daffodils.
Hyacinth.
Rosemary.
Viburnum.
Japanese quince.
Crocus.
Bellis perennis

I love that unusual plant in your first photo. Here in California we have had a lot of rain this winter so the drought is over. Hurray!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terra, glad your drought is over, I hope this happens to another few palces in he world as well. Thnakd for the comment Diane
DeleteOh yes, Diana, your cactus looks like a rabbit!!! How lovely! And I always love your flower photos, my friend. I am in love with crocus! Kisses!!!

ReplyDeleteAll the photos are lovely. So springlike, such beautiful colors. What a great time of year this is.
Happy Week !
Thanks Geraldine, we do not have a lot of flowers, but we have are pretty. Hope you have a good week as well Diane
DeleteI can see the resemblance to a rabbit.
ReplyDeleteYes he hit it just right with un lapin :-) Have a good week Diane
DeleteBeautiful flowers. I do love your cactus. It looks very healthy and I hope it survives the repotting.
ReplyDeletePenny I also hope it survives, it was exploding out of its old pot so something had to be done! Have a great week Diane
DeleteBeautiful blooms Diane and your roofing man is right, your Amsterdam survivor does look like un lapin 😉
ReplyDeleteP.s. saw specialist re cough, bit of a waste of time, personally I think it's allergies, will start treating myself.. I always think I know better than the doctors 😀 Happy New week ✨
The only Dr that sorted my cough out was the Italian one that I saw on the cruise of the Mediterranean in 2013. I stopped coughing completely for a couple of years, then I had bronchitis and the cough returned! Now I have good days and bad days! Good luck. Hope you have a good week Diane
DeleteVery pretty! Nice contrast with the dark backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I like dark backgrounds but not always easy to get in the garden! Keep well Diane
DeleteSuch colourful beauty on a dreary day! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is pretty dismal at present so yes they flowers do brighten my day. Happy week, Diane
DeleteSweet little cactus. I can't even keep weeds alive. Looks like you've gotten enough rain for your spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteHahe sure weeds would grow for you here, I can't kill them. Take care Diane

Spring has been and winter has returned!!!! Hope you are well and enjpying your time in Africa. Hugs Diane.
DeleteWow! Your cactus is flowering! I have a few cactus plants but they are not doing well. Some have already died. Beautiful flowers especially the pink Camellia.
ReplyDeleteI brought back 3 cactus from Holland and the other two have died!! Keep well Diane
DeleteYour cactus type plant is beautiful and it does look like a rabbit. :)
ReplyDeleteYes it does, I am sure I would not have noticed without the shove from our roofing guy. Keep well Diane
DeleteI really love your only surviving plant from your trip to Amsterdam. What a nice one.
ReplyDeleteAritha I am sad the others did not make it but one is better then none :-) Hope all is well with you and the family, Diane
DeleteThose pics have me wanting SPRING to come....and STAY! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes Pam and STAY is the right word. After two weeks of sun we have just gone backwards and plants, birds and animals are allout of gear! I hope that you are feeling better. Diane
DeleteThe colours in those blooms are simply stunning.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was more insect life around to go with them, but the chill again has chased most away. Cheers Diane
DeleteGorgeous flowers, Diane! We still have snow on the ground here and I'm looking forward to flowers. Take care
ReplyDeleteThnakfully we have had no snow this year (YET) but anything could happen we have sometimes frosts as late as May. I hope all is well with you both, Diane
DeleteLovely flowers, I can't wait for the Spring here ☺☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalia, spring cannot come quick enough for me. Keep well Diane
DeleteI'm following, greetings from Poland ☺☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalia, looking forward to hearing more from you. Take care Dianr
DeleteJust enjoyed a catch up here, gorgeous flowers Diane. Do hope you and Nigel are keeping well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I am not keeping up very well. Impossible to take photos with the lousy weather that we are having now and time nerver seems to be enough! Hope you are doing well also Diane
DeleteHi Diane. I don't want to burst your bubble, but don't be surprised if those flowers stay looking like that for evermore! I used to grow cacti as a hobby - had over a thousand plants at one time - and don't recall ever seeing flowers anything like those on any of my plants. I do remember, however, that a lot of garden centres had Dutch-supplied cactus plants sporting flowers like that, and those crafty Dutchmen had just stuck dried flowers into the cacti to make them look attractive! I hope that I'm proven wrong!
ReplyDeleteMy very best wishes - - Richard
LOL nothing surprises me in this fake world today. The plant is doing really well and is at least 3x the size it was when we brought it home. Real flowers or not, the glue must be good as we have had it for about 4 years now!
DeleteThanks for the info though, interesting.
Take care Diane
