Maximum temperature in the Charente today 16C, minimum 9C. Dry so far today and last night. 31km/h South-Easterly winds with gusts up to 64 km/h!!
Savanna (or bush) elephant (Loxodonta africana) - a little too close!
As above - romancing...
I love you.
Elephant playing in one of the waterholes. Due to the drought, most of these watering places are having water pumped into them from tankers. Recent rains have fallen in South Africa but many places are still very dry
How low can you go......
I loved this series.
Giraffe (Giraffa giraffa).
Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus),
Leopard tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis).
Ostrich - female (struthio camelus).
Greater kudu male (Tragelaphus strepsiceros)
As above.
Zebra, I suspect this might be a Chapman's zebra (Equus quagga chapmani). Note the stripes to not go right down to the hooves.
Chacma or Cape baboon (Papio ursinus)...
As above.
See also my Bird blog I have many photos of birds and I will put most of them on this blog.
The elephant series is exceptional! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie it was such fun to watch him and them. Have a good day Diane
DeleteGreat memories, Diane. The picture of the Ostrich in interesting. We saw very few that in the opinion of our South African guide could be classed as wild birds. He said that Ostrich farming is big business and most birds are now captive and the few we did see had likely escaped from captivity. In Ethiopia, by contrast, I saw many wild birds, considered by some taxonomists to be a separate species, Somali Ostrich.
ReplyDeleteWe saw several Ostrich in each of the game reserves we went to including males sitting. Glad you had good memories though Best wishes, Diane
