I went for a walk yesterday while the weather was fair, it gets colder as the week goes on if the forecast is right. I took too many photos, so this will be only the first part of the walk. Our slow connection just cannot cope with as many as 30 photos in one blog!!
Camellia in our neighbour's garden. Ours are still in tight bud!
Cotoneaster also in another neighbour's garden, ours have already dropped their berries!
Looking across the fields.
Long-leaved Lungwort (Pulmonaria longifolia). Thanks to Susan for the ID.
As above.
Cowslip (Primula veris).
Dandelion.
Rose hips with rose bedeguar galls caused by the wasp (Diplolepis rosae). The female lays up to 60 eggs within each leaf bud. The grubs develop within the gall.
Speedwell.
Common Brimstone butterfly (Gonepteryx rhamni) on a cowslip.
Under observation....

Such a lovely area to walk. It looks like a hint of green among the trees in the distance.
ReplyDeleteWe have had so much rain everything is very green. Have a good week Diane
DeleteGorgeous! ❤️ the dandelions! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, dandelions are pretty, I just wish they did not spread so easily in our garden!! Have a good day Diane
DeleteYou have lots of colour already, Diane, whereas we have monochrome white! Those Eurasian Cranes overhead would have been a huge thrill for me. I would have tried to follow them! Glad to hear you went out for a walk. Nothing but good can come of that.
ReplyDeleteDavid I have walked just over 8 km in the last two days and now the rain is back and looks set in for the rest of the week!! Because I have done very little walking over winter my shins are complaining, therefore I hope the daily forecast rain is wrong as now I want to keep walking to sort my shims out. Dentist though today, bad toothache!!!
DeleteRe the cranes, when they are milling around it is reasonably easy to get shots of them (if the camera will focus!) but once they all into formation they travel very fast.
Best wishes to you both Diane
Excellent photos as usual, Diane! Sounds like a perfect walk to me! Weather here rainy, snowy, windy, not much walking outside now. And seeing all the green by you is fabulous, still brown here. Can't wait for Spring1 The 'Africa' book is amazing! Saddens me too though, I'm about half way through, actually disgusts me at times with the nasty people, but a great story! Horrible with the snares!!! Take care
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been pretty amazing this year, milder than I have ever know a winter but we have had frosts as late as May so I am not planning on planting too much to early!!
DeleteIt is a very sad book but I think it is interesting and I wish more people would read it. The second book is even sadder!
Take care and enjoy your week. Diane
Pretty flowers and beautiful animals to enjoy in your post. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy for the comment, have a fabulous week Diane
DeleteIt's beginning to look a bit like spring Diane.. you can't fool nature, when the buds start popping and the sheep start lambing there's no stopping it 😊 aren't the lambs adorable 💙 Hope you are both keeping well.
ReplyDeleteP.s. the cough seems to be back 😱
It is really quite springlike when it is not raining which it is at the present time!! Sorry about the cough, mine comes and goes, think it will always be around :-((((( Take care Diane
DeleteHi Diane - gorgeous photos ... is the rhododendron one, or is it a camellia - which is what it looks like to me. Our trees are budding ... and it has been warm, that I agree ... but so glad you've had a good couple of days ... it's gorgeous here at the moment - but more rain due shortly ... later on or overnight. It's not good in other parts of the UK ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary and thanks, not sure where my brain was when I labelled that flower, of course you are right and it is Camellia, I have changed it!! Yes my camellia is in bud!! Glad that you are not flooded out, it sounds more than drastic n some places. Have a good day and thanks again, Diane
DeleteFabulous photos Diane and a lovely tour around your area. Thank you and have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Demise, it is a lovely spot when it is not raining!! We seem to have had a lot of the latter in recent weeks. Cheers diane
DeleteGorgeous sights Diane. Just lovely. I'm sorry to hear you are having tooth pain. I've had a long saga with teeth troubles. I'm slowly getting it sorted out but it takes time and money. Very soon I hope to be done with the worst of it. All the best to you with yours. I see you are also back to rain. We too will be having a lot of that starting today but Spring is around the corner.xx
ReplyDeleteOne trip down to the dentist and another 3 to go!! I still, after all this, have a temporary cap to be sorted out!! Take care Diane
DeleteSuch lovely countryside to take a stroll. I am jealous because you have so many flowers already. But I'm holding my breath for spring in the desert.
ReplyDeleteMasses of wild flowers out at the moment and generally my favourites are in spring. Keep well Diane
DeleteGracias por el comentario, apreciado. También me encantan las ovejas y los corderos. Buen día. Diane
