Maximum temperature here today 14⁰C, minimum 5⁰C. 2 mm rain measured this morning but more forecast.. 10km/h South-westerly winds with gusts up to 23 km/h.
I thought I had caught up with September photos, but I realised yesterday, that I had not edited the photos from a drive that we went on in the middle of the month......
A country road and lots of trees.
Our first stop where I took a walk to take some photos was at Exideuil-sur-Vienne. This is a photo of part of the Vienne river...
As above The oldest parish in the town registers dates back to 1606....
The old bridge in Exideuil-sur-Vienne which I can find no information on!!
It has a blue line down the middle, but traffic can only travel one way at a time. First come first serve, it is only wide enough for one vehicle.
This looks like a mini covered market which we saw from the car just as we were leaving the town. Apparently, it is a meeting point.
A map of the Charente Lakes which is where we stopped next.
This is the lake on the left of the map, Lac de Mas Chaban. The water level was extremely low when we were there. After all the rain in the past few weeks, I would hope this has risen considerably.
The same lake framed through the trees but the sun was in front of me!
We then travelled on to the second lake, Lac de Lavaud.
A very similar outlook to the first lake, again with a very low water level.
Autumn starting to show in the tree colours as we finally drove back home.
My local list of wildflowers. (90 Species 23/08/2020).

Photo competition running until 31 December - colourful photos.
Let us all join in great fun.
Love the country away from the busyness and noise of the towns and cities. Lovely lakes. That is a nice meeting place surrounded by flowers. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteNancy it is rare we ever see a city anymore. We live in the middle of farming country. Keep well Diane
DeleteManzaraya bayıldım:)
ReplyDeleteÇok teşekkür ederim. İyi günler. Diane
DeleteThe beautiful French countryside.
ReplyDeleteI must say if I cannot daily see an African countryside, France to me is the next best minus the animals though 😉
DeleteKeep safe, Diane
I always love seeing photos from lakes and rivers, Diane. And your photos are really lovely. Thank you so much for sharing, my dear friend. In Greece the temperature is 25 C degrees. Kisses!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Greece is quite warm. The weather here has been foul now for several weeks! It changed far too quickly. Thanks for the comment, keep well Diane
DeleteI always love the photos from your drives around the countryside. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteIt is not often we go out now with COVID, and with winter coming up another reason why we will not go out much. I hope 2021 is going to be better but sadly I have my doubts! Keep safe Diane
DeleteIt looks like you need rain there.
ReplyDeleteThe countryside is so beautiful, like I remember France.
Since we saw these dams it has rained a lot so I would expect them to be looking very different now unless they have let the water through to fill further down the rivers. Take care Diane
DeleteSuch beautiful countryside. Sorry to see the lakes/dams so low.
ReplyDeleteGaelyn with all the rain we have had in the past fortnight I would think they look a lot better now. We need to go for another drive to have a look, but the weather is not ideal for driving at present. Hope all is well Diane
DeleteHi Diane - delightful drive with you through the countryside ... love the one way bridge - it's quite a long one ... whereas here we tend to have very short one-way sections. Gorgeous views and yes bet those lakes are much fuller now - take care - Hilary
ReplyDeleteI agree Hilary it is quite a long bridge but I guess when it was built it was probably for carts pulled by a horse or similar. I wish I could find the history on it, but I have tried in both English and French and nothing!
Deletekeep well Diane
Yes you can see those autumn colours popping up here and there Diane, it's a beautiful time of the year 🍁
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely time of the year, if only winter did not follow!!!! Keep safe Diane
DeleteHi Diane! The Vienne looks as if it is a beautiful river. I suspect that it could be a great place for dragonflies. The surrounds to those to reservoirs, however, look to be a little too 'sterile' for much in the way of wildlife other than birds and fish!
ReplyDeleteExideuil would seem to be a fascinating place, too. The new bridge was to an Eiffel design, but I cannot find any details of the old bridge - I did look!
Take great care. I hope the the Covid situation there is better than it is in UK - we seem to have lost the plot! Best wishes to you both - - - Richard
Hi Richard, a long way for me to just pop out and look for dragonflies unfortunately. We did a 100 km trip on this drive.
DeleteI have had another search for the history on that bridge and I also cannot find anything. I got as far as finding directions that said you have to drive over a narrow bridge!!! Not very helpful.
Keep safe and take care, Think we could be doing this for quite a long time to come yet. (sigh).
Best wishes to you both as well, Diane
Hi Diane: I just noticed that the date at the top of this post says 12/12/2020 - a little premature I think!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I must have been dreaming!! Rectified. Hope the eyes are doing well. Stay safe Diane
DeleteWhat a nice drive as summer was ending. Enjoyed going on your trip through your beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne, we are lucky we have so many beautiful places to choose from. Keep well and stay safe Diane
DeleteLove the photos of your scenic drive.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
Thanks Veronica for the comment, have a great week, Diane
DeleteThe lakes look like nice places to visit. You are lucky to be able to go for a drive. I believe France like the rest of Europe have had a second wave of infections. Our daughter and family in Victoria have had a very tough four months of lockdown after they were hit with a second wave. They could only leave the house for an hour a day to exercise or shop. The boys haven't been to school since March. However, they have finally got the number of infections down to one or two a day. So the kids have gone back to school but they still can't travel more than 25 k from their home. Take care .
ReplyDeleteOur nephew lives in Melbourne and he teaches difficult children. I gather he has worked right through as many of the parents can not cope with the children 24/7. Restrictions here are limited to a few places, Marseilles and Paris amongst them. We have to wear masks anywhere inside a public place but we can move around without permits as we had to have in the early lockdown. Stay safe, t'other Diane
DeleteTrees are turning here in Nashville TN. I have been wanting to collect leaves of the ones that have turned to see what tree they are. I want to study up on my trees more. We have yellow, a tad of orange and some red right now, but waiting....I am waiting....haha
ReplyDeleteTrees in autumn are lovely but they look so stark in winter. I love spring when the green shoots start again. Take care Diane
Deleteoops....love your pics as always. I had an adventure yesterday when I photographed a deserted hotel and resort. That blog will be posted in a few days. I love getting out and about with my camera as I see you do too.....stay calm and snap on.
ReplyDeleteI need to catch up on blogs, we I have been busy in the garden over the past few days as it is probably the end of our sunshine!! Ye keep snapping 😊 Diane
DeleteI'm glad you shared your drive with us. What lovely scenery.
ReplyDeleteYour link at 'My Corner of the World' this week is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Betty and for hosting. Keep well and stay safe Diane
DeleteThank you for sharing your drive with us. Lovely scenes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise, not often we seem to get out these days so it was a nice break. Keep well Diane
DeleteOh gee, things are certainly starting to cool down over there.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are and we have had high winds as well. My perfect life would be living permanent in summer !! Keep safe Diane
