20/03/2022 A walk down to the local Mayor's office..

The maximum temperature here today is 18⁰C, minimum 8⁰C. 1mm of rain was measured this evening. South-Easterly winds of 20km/h with gusts up to 40 km/h that felt very chilly!

Sorry, I am not doing a very good job of keeping up with my blog or your blogs!!

Mimosa in full bloom.

An old shepherd's cottage which is falling to pieces, sad.

Cowslips (Primula veris).

Daffodils (Narcissus).

Forsythia (Forsythia spp.) and behind Japanese Quince (Chaenomeles japonica).

Magnolia Pink....

and white.

Primrose (Primula vulgaris).

Our local town that has the old church and the mayor's office...

Looking down on the village from partway up the hill going back home.

This very small pony belongs to my Dr, I wonder how it ever sees what is going on!!

Our neighbour's lambs.

My local list of wildflowers. (91 Species 02/12/2021).

    1. You are right Nancy we do live in a beautiful place. That pony is a very cheeky animal I always feel if there was not a fence between us, small as he is, he would attack. Keep well and thanks for the comment. Diane

    1. It looks wonderful, but we have an icy wind blowing from the Russian area, which is biting if one goes outside. Any sort of wind these days and my eyes continually water so it is not much fun. Take care, t'other Diane

    1. Hilary it is a lovely little town, and although we have no shops there, it is a town because of the church and the local mayor being based there. I love this time of the year with all the flowers out, but I do wish the cold Northern wind would move South!! Keep safe and thanks for the visit, Diane

  4. Lots of colour where you live, Diane. I am sure it was a very pleasant walk into town and back. Spring is really starting to take hold here. We have snowdrops in the back yard and after several days of above freezing temperatures, green shoots are poking up and I expect it won't be long before daffodils and croci begin to enliven the landscape. The situation in Ukraine distresses me immensely. Refugees are beginning to arrive in Canada and the stories they have to tell are enough to make you weep. We can shoot rockets into deep space yet we have still not evolved systems here on Earth to prevent one psychopath from triggering the war that will send us all to oblivion. Hugs from Ontario. David

    1. Thanks, David, I can only agree where Ukraine is concerned, the whole thing is very upsetting and all because of one man.

Regarding the snowdrops, croci and daffodils, ours are all over and we now have hyacinths and tulips out. I need to get to work in the vegetable garden though but I just cannot work in the icy cold wind we have at present, my eyes just stream even if I wear dark glasses and I cannot see what I am doing!

Take care and very best wishes to you both. Cheers Diane

  5. Oh the blooms! They make me smile as did the pony! What short legs! It looks like a long fur coat too. How does it see anything? Great photo!

  6. How wonderful to have more views from your spring-is-sprung garden and your locality, Diane. It all looks fabulous, and if I was a younger man I'd be dreaming of doing something with that shepherd's cottage.

I fully understand this business of not being able to keep up with with blogs, etc. I have barely scratched the surface of the nearly three thousand photos that I took in the Isles of Scilly. I've been busy making modifications to an outhouse, including new electrics and making a new door, and I've just been informed today that I have to go to hospital for a minor op, but under general anaesthetic in a week and a half (self-isolating for 4 days beforehand), and a pre-op assessment this Thursday. I also have a hospital hearing appointment on Monday - it's all go at the moment!

    Take good care - - - Richard

    1. Keeping up with life seems to become increasingly difficult and there seems to be so much on with one thing and another, we have also had a run of complaints to sort out, our new leather chairs are peeling! Our top-up medical aid have “lost me”? They owe us a lot of money and despite registered letters, new copies etc we are still fighting with them. A series of other things as well, retirement is supposed to be relaxing!

I hope that all goes well with your hospital trip, I always feel a general anaesthetic is a risk of some sort the older we get, but fingers crossed. Please let me know how you get on. Hope also that the ears are OK, I was told some time ago that I should get a hearing test as my right ear is not so good. It has never been 100% since I had chickenpox in my early 20's so I just let things be. Sometimes it is better not to hear methinks!

Thinking of you, take care, Diane

  9. Well first off.....the horse with the hair, reminds me of myself upon waking some mornings! haha..I LOVE you pic of the gate and the tree. So inviting and fresh looking with the new blooms. Looks like you guys are right with us on the blooming season. My yellow bushes are in full bloom right now. I clipped some and brought some in the house the other day so I could enjoy them. I also love the pic of the church and mayors office. Beautiful.

    1. That pony is so funny and can obviously see very well but I do not know how! I am guessing your bushes are forsythia, they are amazing at the moment.
I hope you are well and that spring brings good health with it for you. Take care Diane

  13. The mimosa looks similar to our Australian wattle. It is terrible though if you have allergies.

    1. Yes it is much the same and it certainly causes allergies in some people, thankfully I do not have a problem with it.
