  1. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! Your insect macro photography is beautiful, Diane. The Mason Wasp make me wonder how that abdomen can function with such a long thin connection to the thorax.

I am thankful for your rain as it has given me the pleasure of another blog post from you. I do realise, however, that the work in the garden will be stacking up for you, waiting for more fine weather!

Best wishes to you and Nigel - stay safe - and try and find some 'relax time' - - - Richard

    1. Thanks so much Richard, your comments give me a boost.

I only wish I could get more photos of the Little Owl. They are around all the time and are often in our Acer tree, but until the leaves drop I have no chance. They seem to be in the trees more often now, before they seemed to be on the barn roofs. So much easier to take photos on the roof! I should put up a pole in the lawn to attract them, but I put it off as I think of the hassle of cutting the lawn! We have a friend who lives in the Dordogne with a pole in his lawn, apart from the Little Owl he has had several other good shots including a Barn Owl.

Keep well, our very best wishes to you both. Cheers Diane

    1. Thank you Angie, and we do love the lizards we seem to have one that has moved into our bathroom, heaven knows how it got there. I have been trying to catch it with insects to put it outside but so far no luck. Keep safe Diane

  5. Two posts in a week, Diane! No doubt this sets the standard and I shall be looking for another one in about three days. The quality of your photographs is nothing short of amazing. I am reminded of a student at the University of Waterloo who looked to me for guidance sometimes, and practice in field work, and whenever we saw something remarkable, or uniquely beautiful, she would say, “That’s insane.” In looking at your pictures, I can hear her now, effusively exclaiming, “That’s INSANE.” Bon mardi, bonne journée, gros bisous- David

    1. Salut David, LOL, this must be a record, but while it keeps raining...... Luckily it was dry today as it was our shopping day, but we had another 24mm of rain over night! Lots more forecast over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks you for your very kind comments, I do not have an expensive camera, but my Tamron Megazoom - 18-400 mm seems to do me very well. Though some of my photos are also with the very little Nikon Coolpix which I carry with me most of the time. Sadly I think it needs a clean and we have nowhere nearby that can do it. Nigel suggested I bought another one as it is very old, but they do not still make the Coolpix and all other small hand held cameras have soared in price!

      Bisous, Diane

  8. I really hope it doesn't rain for your next two weeks Diane. I say that because I'm pretty sure it has happened here on more than one occasion, or it certainly felt like it. Now I see why there are so many scare stories about the Asian Hornet. That abdomen looks like it can pack a punch if upset. Steer clear of the hornet and avoid the rain this weekend.

    1. Hi Phil, It seems that it is going to keep raining we had 36mm yesterday and 24mm this morning!! It is supposed to be dry on the 9th but then the temperatures drop and we get a frost!!

Hopefully all this rain will have washed the hornet nests down!! This one vanished too quickly or I would have made sure it did not fly again!!

      Keep warm, cheers Diane
