13/11/2023 Still catching up with past photos!

The maximum temperature here today is 18⁰C, minimum 13⁰C.  South-West winds of 24 km/h with gusts up to 53 km/h.  We have now had our annual rainfall and it is still raining as I type this.  Rain is now forecast for every day for as far as the forecast shows.  It is starting to get boring.

The Resistance Memorial at Chassenuil-sur-Bonniere in the rain.  They are doing lots of restoration and it is closed at the present time.  I did a blog on it here if you should be interested. 18/10/2023

Chili Pepper Ornamental 'Prairie Fire' is a robust plant for outdoor borders or for growing indoors in pots. The fruits of this Capsicum Annuum are edible with a hot flavour. 23/10/2023

We have more berries on the holly than I have ever seen this year, They appeared as green during the drought, and since the rain arrived they have all turned red.  (Aquifoliaceae). 23/10/2023

  1. It might be very wet there, Diane, as it is here too, but I wish we could have some of your warmth - if only to keep down the heating bills!

Lovely photos, as always, but I was very impressed by your capsicums. They look beautiful but are, sadly, something that I have to avoid as I have an explosive intolerance!

    That sunset is fabulous.

My very best wishes to you both - stay safe - - - Richard

    1. We have though a stone house with metre thick walls, it is cold even when the temperatures are in the high 30's. I thank our lucky stars we have a good wood burner but the price of wood has shot up. I run the radiators only from 8am until 10 am and again at 4pm for a couple of hours, the last oil fill was a ridiculous price.

We are both chilli fans and if cooking for only the two of us they are in almost every meal :-)))

Keep well and take care, both of you. Cheers Diane

  2. Yes, it is sooooo wet in Europe. Tomorrow, the weather here will be slightly better. Then, we can see the sun. Do you know which photo I find the most beautiful? The sheep. It's so photogenic. Warm regards from us.

  3. So much rain and sloppy snow sometimes here. It has turned cold too. Great photos regardless of the weather, Diane.

    1. Hi Pam, good to hear from you. This year with all the rain seems to be a good year for fungi. Wish I was good at ID but I am sadly not so I leave well alone. Cheers Diane

Ton voisin m'a bien fait rire Diane.
La rose remet du baume au coeur.
    Gros bisous chère voisine.

Bisous mon ami, Diane

  7. I agree Diane. The rain (and wind) are very boring and frustrating for those of us who like to get out into the countryside to look, learn and to photograph. It can only get better I hope. I grew some peepers this year - "Ring of Fire", too hot to eat but a nice show of tiny red peppers.

    1. Hi Phil, I looked up Ring of Fire on the scoville scale and they are between 70,000 and 80,000 so yes quite hot. The cayenne we use quite a lot is only 30,000 to 50,000, but we also grew Habenero this year which I handle with care they are150,000 to 32,500 🌶️😊,
There seems to be very few breaks in the rain, today here was supposed to be dry, but we had a shower an hour ago!
Take care and keep dry, Cheers Diane

    1. Thank you Denise for the visit and the comment. I love the pampas, but with all the rain this year it is looking a little sad, when I took that photo I brought some inside so I still have some that look good! Keep well Diane

  12. Sorry to hear of your continued rain. Join the Club! I like the look of your local town/village. Not a supermarket or McDonalds in sight, just local people and old fashioned service I guess.

    1. This rain is really getting me down now, when it does stop I guess then we will heavy frosts! Roll on spring.:-))))
Our local town has been around a very long time Phil, and has quite a history. Roman objects have been found in the town: coins, urns, gold medals, sarcophagi. Chasseneuil was surrounded by two Roman roads which went from east to west and passed less than 2 km from the current centre.
Behind me in the photo there are two supermarkets, the one has been around many years and fits into the town perfectly, The other is Lidl, but it is on the outskirts so does not really spoil the place too much and it is not as flamboyant as some. We do not have a McDonalds thank goodness.
      Take care, Diane

    1. LOL we love our neighbours but I wish they would keep the flies in their field and not send them to us!! At least now it is winter so the fly population seems to have vanished. I agree unless one knows what they are doing with mushrooms best left well alone! Hope you are feeling better now. Cheers Diane
