11/04/2021 Now into April and still only garden photos.....

Maximum temperature here today 13⁰C, minimum 5⁰C. 33mm of rain measured this morning. 14km/h cool North-Westerly winds with gusts up to 35 km/h. We have 90% rain forecast again for tomorrow. Next week the temperature drops and more frost is forecast!!!

I just wonder if we will get any fruit this year with the continual change in weather from hot to freezing, The vineyards have been lighting candle type lights between the grapes, but they say a lot of damage has already been done. It will be a disaster if there is no wine later this year.

We are back in lockdown yet again for at least another 4 weeks... The curfew continues as it has been for several months now.

I think this is a Katydid (Tettigoniidae).

Standing in our vegetable garden, the neighbours have their lawnmowers out!!

I am open to correction here possibly a mining bee family Andrenidae or Heriades truncorum – the Large-headed resin bee??

In the garden at home - still trying to catch up with holiday photos!!

Maximum temperature today 18C, minimum 10C. Rain measured this morning 0; but some expected later 17km/h North-westerly winds with gusts up to 39 km/h.

Last Friday it was so windy that we had two apple trees blown over!! The bigger one (a Granny Smith) we hope we have saved, staked and tied, but it needs a better stake. Holiday today though and no shops open. The smaller one we just removed, it has never produced much and it was not worth the effort of trying to keep it.

Common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis).

Love in a mist (Nigella damascena).

Hoverfly (I think) on the Sweet William.

Small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) on the Sweet William,

Carpenter bee (Xylocos violacea) on the Sweet William.

Chafer beetle (oxythrea funesta). Sweet william - popular plant!

Two for the price of one on the calendula. I think a hoverfly and a small bee,

Oedemera nobilis, also known as the false oil beetle, thick-legged flower beetle or swollen-thighed beetle, This is a male, the female does not have such muscular legs.

24/06/2018 Home and the garden.

Maximum temperature today 26C, minimum 14C. Dry; 17 km/h North Easterly chilly winds with up to 40 km/h gusts.

A couple of days back the bees took a liking to our roof, it seems that they have now moved in. Unfortunately, the roof is quite new and not easily moved, so not sure how the Bee man is going to move them. Could be an expensive exercise!!
