21/07/2015 Too hot and only a few photos!

Maximum 32C (but it feels much hotter), minimum 17C. 20 km/h NW wind. Dry!! Rain forecast for tomorrow but they have not been right in the past six weeks!!

I so enjoyed this book and towards the end I could not put it down only finishing at 2am! Having lived most of my early life in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, so many places had a lot of meaning to me. Diana’s knowledge of every detail in this book is incredible.
Sadly, so much of this story is fact and very true. It made me cry and at times it made me smile. I hope that it might awaken the world as to what is going on in many African countries, and instead of so many people burying their heads in the sand, perhaps they might stand up and do something. Smuggling and hunting are very soon going to leave the world a very sad place when there are no animals left.
Now I am off to read Shadows over an African Heart.

Shadows Over an African Heart: a novel by Diana M. Hawkins

Shadows over an African Heart is the perfect name for this book. The shadows are even bigger than I ever dreamt, and this book is a real eye-opener to the truth of what is going on. I was in tears in many places in this book. The fictional side story I so enjoyed, but the true and very sad story of the elephants and other animals; the Zimbabwe government has so much to answer for.
The world needs to read both of Diana’s books and action needs to be taken before the children of today never see wildlife as we have had the joy to grow up with around us.
There are many African words in the story which to me were great to be reminded of, but many are explained as you read and there is a good glossary of the words in the back of the book.
