as above.
Garlic chives and bug.
Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta)
Jersey Tiger Moth (Euplagia quadripunctaria)...
As above showing some of the colour of its under-wings.
Full shot of the underneath of the moth. Quite beautiful.
Skipper but not certain which one. Possibly one of the Grizzled Skippers but I do not know which one.
Small copper (Lycaena phlaeas)
Small heath (Coenonympha pamphilus)
Last but not least a common wall lizard that thinks I cannot see it in the shade!
(Podarcis muralis)
Beautiful photos, Diane! What a great collection of butterflies! I love Mrs Sparrow but I am in love with the lizard! Have a great week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI also love lizards they are so cute. Thanks Mia for taking the time to comment, appreciated Diane
DeleteIt is amazing that people continue to let their cats roam free without any consideration of the carnage they create to bird populations. It's time to start licensing them like dogs with a code of control similar to those which dog owners have to adhere to. You have to control your dog, have them on a leash when mandated to do so; the same should apply to cats. Not only do they decimate bird populations they kill many other organisms, poop in your garden, etc, Time for legislation!
ReplyDeleteWe have no choice, farm cats will never be shut in they are there for a purpose to keep the rat and mice population down, they are fairly wild. Licensing would be good but it will never happen! Our birds just have to be very wary. Take care Diane
DeleteYour photos are really stunning. Focused in the foreground and blurry in the background. You've captured the bird with what seems such character too.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the kind comment. Our birds do seem to have characters, especially in winter when the come and tap on the lounge window to remind us they need food :-) Happy day, cheers Diane
DeleteOh, so beautiful, Diane. We see a lot of little lizards here also.
ReplyDeleteThe other day a baby that wasn't even as big my pinky finger. :)
xoxo
I love the lizards especially the green ones which we only saw for a short time this year. Take care Diane
DeleteA Grizzled Skipper? I didn't know they named a butterfly after me!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, have you looked it up ? Cheers Diane
DeleteSo amazing how different the two sides of the wings are. Great shots. Hope the cats stay away.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a beautiful moth and stunning in flight which I have never yet managed to catch! Cheers Diane
DeleteDid I already ask you this Diane.. do you use a tripod when shooting macros? I love your small bird shots, surely you use a long lens, here they are so skittish if you get too close. Always a pleasure to see.
ReplyDeleteThink I answered this before but I have now answered on your blog also :-)) Take care Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, Diane! Cats...yes, they will be cats. :)
ReplyDeleteSadly yes but I wish they would just stick to the rats and mice for which purpose they are supposed to be barn cats! Keep well Diane
DeleteYou have such lovely flying creatures there.
ReplyDeleteI do not say lovely _all_ creatures, because I just don't care for lizards of any size. ,-)
Nasty cats!!!! Nasty, nasty cats!!! How about some sort of a power water spray, to aim at them? If there is such a thing. Not hurt them, but scare the pants off of them.
An automatic spray when they get near the birds would be good but doubt if there is anything like that in France. Sorry you do not like lizards, I am very fond of reptiles ! Take care Diane
DeleteFantastic pics. Every time I see your post I want to grab the camera and head out.....rain is stopping me now. Oops....sun popped out again. Going to be a couple of rainy days here.
ReplyDeleteLoved your pictures taken through the town yesterday, good to see where you live. Have a good day and don't get wet. Diane
DeleteI don't think those first two photos loaded when I visited yesterday. The colours in the sky are simple stunning!
ReplyDeleteI was lucky there was a sunset as I just did not have time for the camera yesterday. I often have trouble loading photos but with us it is because we have a very slow connection! Thanks for the comment, have a good day Diane
DeleteSparrows are among the cutest birds. I love the Jersey Tiger Moth - its colouring and markings are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThose jersey moths are stunning and spectacular when in flight. Diane
