13/09/2017 A rainy day on and off. A few photos taken during a break.

Maximum temperature 22C, (I do not believe it!) minimum 15C. 21 km/h SW wind with 51 km/h gusts. 7 mm of rain overnight.
Autumn is here.

Grasshopper.

Bee, plus a little bug behind the bee on the Garlic chives.

Bee on the garlic chives.

Calendula and two small bugs.

Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) that I chased around the garden.  I decided that it was a female but it was so fast!

As above...

As above.

Hoverfly.

 Fly on the sedum.

Finally a lizard (Podarcis muralis) braving the weather, it must have been cold as it let me get quite close...

As above.

    1. We are both feeling chilly. Anything under 20 to us is cold, we lived too long in Africa! Cheers Diane

  3. Love the texture of the lizard. Nice warm autumn so far. We were blasted with wind today. It doesn't often happen thank goodness. I don't like wind. The temp was still 25°C.

    1. We will both be miserable weather-wise now until April/May next year. We might get a few warm days yet before the end of the year but I do not think they will last. Roll on November when we have 2 weeks in the sun before the cold of Christmas in the UK!!! Warm hugs and happy (photo) shooting. Diane

  7. Yup, looks like Autumn is there.

How long will you stay there, since you don't like cold? I am new here, so I don't know these details.

    1. Luna sadly we cannot afford two homes or we would be in France from April until September and South of the equator for the rest of the year. As things stand we have to put up with the cold, and even colder at Christmas, as we go to the UK to be with my FIL who lives there alone in a very cold house. He does not seem to feel the cold despite being 96 and I am ill every year!!! One year when he had his daughter there for Christmas (she lives in Australia) we went to Northern Africa for Christmas and New Year, it was wonderful.
Hope that all is well have a good weekend Diane

  8. Send some cooler weather here, please Diane. I was just reading your comment to Luna, it's sad that you get ill every year from the cold. :(

    1. I hate the cold having lived in Africa most of my life. I have had pneumonia 3 times and I have to be so careful. Last year I spent the the whole of Christmas in bed feeling terrible. Not a good time of the year for me especially in the UK where we need to be at Christmas!! Take care Diane

  9. Now I am really curious. What do you guys consider "cold?" You say above that if you had the resources you would spent part of the year in France and the balance of the year south of the equator. Since you love the heat why would you not settle permanently in a warm climate....Australia, for example? And do I not recall in earlier posts this year you found it too hot and were happy to stay inside most of the day? Personally, I can handle cold weather much better than hot weather. On the coldest winter day I can layer up and stay warm, but when the temperature climbs above 30 it is impossible to escape it.

    1. I could write a book on this subject. Send me your email :-) In short anything under 20C is too cold to us. Neither of us can layer up to keep warm it does not work Too hot has never been a problem we both can keep coolish even with temps over 40C, much prefer to be too hot. I lived in the perfect climate in Rhodesia but now it is Zimbabwe!!!!!!!! Botswana would be good, but we have an elderly parent in the UK who we need to be as close as possible to, 96 and living alone. We could not afford to retire in the UK and France was our best option as easy to travel world wide at reasonable costs. Australia would not have us we are not rich enough, and it is too far from the rest of the world. Cheers Diane
