Arriving at the Salle Communale....
for the autumn luncheon...
Good job the meal is spread out over 4 to 5 hours....
Finding a seat...
The table settings...
Potage Maison - Literally homemade soup of the day...
Perch with sorrel sauce - we were all saying we were full by the end of the fish course!!..
Then came the guinea fowl, with beans wrapped in bacon and we never established what the third part of the meal was. Onion cake ???? It tasted good whatever it was. Girolles is the mushroom for those who are lost with the French on the menu.
Cheese and salad, and of course French bread throughout the meal....
Blueberry tart with sorbet and coffee to finish off with. Of course no shortage of wine on the table!...
Back home at 5 pm a quick walk in the garden and I discovered this bumblebee...
Catkins on the hazel nut tree....
A somewhat bedraggled red admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta)...
and one lone bud on the climbing rose.

Lunch looked delicious on paper and on the plate, Diane!
ReplyDeleteIt was excellent though too much!! Good job it stretches on for a long time!! Keep well Diane
DeleteSuch a lovely luncheon! I can see why it takes several hours with all that good food! :)
ReplyDeleteI suppose you didn't need dinner after that, Diane. LOL
xoxo
How right you are and we didn't have lunch today (Friday) either, but am cooking a light salmon dinner tonight. We have another luncheon tomorrow!!!!!! Keep well Diane
DeleteSuch a beautifully prepared meal, it looks delicious and oh so large. I don't know if my first comment came through. I've never seen a hazelnut catkin before.
ReplyDeleteNo only one comment, our hazel nut tree gets catkins every year but there are a lot this year! Keep well Diane
DeleteYou take the most interesting photos Diane, all enjoyed tremendously. A lovely gathering, delicious food and your bee and butterfly shots always delight me. They are sharp and clear and I have funn looking at all the details you have captured. Thank you and enjoy your upcoming weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise, the French gatherings are always good. Great food, good company and long hours :-) Thanks hope you have a good weekend also. Diane
DeleteBeautiful nature photos, Diane! The meal looks delicious! The onion cake is an onion Quiche, I think, and it looks pretty tasty, and the Guinea fowl dish....looks scrumptious! The fish dish also looks very good, and the blueberry tart...oh, my goodness! I also love the salad with bread and cheese. I definitely would have enjoyed this meal! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLinda I think you have got the answer in one, small onion quiches. I always think of a quiche being big and sliced, but I must give small ones a try seems like a good idea. Thankfully eating and courses are slow or we would never have made it! Have a good weekend Diane
DeleteThe food do look good and I am sure they are delicious. They sure make me hungry. Nice to round up the lunch with blackberry tart with sorbet!
ReplyDeleteIt was actually Blueberry, but very good and the sharper sorbet complimented it perfectly. Hope you have a good weekend Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, Diane. I love blueberry tart!!!!!! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteMia it was delicious as was the rest of the meal I might add. Take care and enjoy the weekend Diane
DeleteOh, and I meant to say, I love the rosebud, Diane!

Today it looked like it was frozen in time so I did take a photo, but have not posted it today. Maybe tomorrow. Diane
DeleteThe French do know how to do a decent lunch Diane 😀 can't imagine there was much apetite for dinner that night ☺
ReplyDeleteHa ha as I said above, how right you are and we didn't have lunch today (Friday) either, but am cooking a light salmon dinner tonight. We have another luncheon tomorrow!!!!!!
DeleteHave a great weekend Diane
The food made me hungry. It looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, it was a good meal!! Take care Diane
DeleteHi Diane. More scrumptious food, I especially like the look of the cheese and blueberry tart. Kim
ReplyDeleteIt was a delicious tart, quite sweet, but the sharpness of the sorbet went well with it. Take care Diane
Delete4-5 hours... Wisdom! Way too much to "take," in an hour sitting. -smile-
ReplyDeleteGreat wisdom :-))))) Diane
DeleteThat's enough food to feed me for several meals. Good thing you have hours to eat.
ReplyDeleteWould never manage it if it was on French time :-)))) Diane
