Maximum temperature 17C, minimum 11C. 24 km/h Westerly winds, 52 km/h gusts. Rain but not measured as yet.
Just after leaving home we drove though this small village with masses of cosmos by the right hand side of the road - sorry about the blurred rain drops!
Crosses at crossroads were traditionally used in France as way-markers and/or as sacred places for use by travellers and locals alike.
Marillac-le-franc. I could just see the church between two barns as we drove past.
Arrival at the restaurant at St Sornin where we met friends.
The house next door to the restaurant - I know many of you like the stone houses we have here.
Buffet starter - great deal - 4 courses including wine for €12.50 each.
I forgot photos of the lamb main course, and the cheese plate, and as you can see I almost forgot a photo of the dessert as well - one mouthful gone 😉
This Virginia creeper is on a house opposite the restaurant...
and autumn colours beyond the hedge in the car park.
Back on the road you can see the autumn colours starting to show...
as above.
and then the rain came down heavier as we were nearly home.

This sounds like the perfect day to me Diane.. a little bit of rain, a lot of excellent food and good company ☺ and on top of that you captured some gorgeous autumn scenes.. parfait!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace, I just wish it would only rain at night and the sun would shine during the day that would be perfect for me!! Take care Diane
DeleteI beg to differ about it being a bad day for photos, Diane, because I absolutely love this series! I love rain photos and would have enjoyed seeing the lamb, I am sure it was scrumptious! I love the Autumn colours, food and store fronts and views here! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI also love the autumn colours, it is the temperature that goes with autumn that I do not like. Hope that al is well Diane
DeleteThe colors of the creeper personify autumn. It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVirginia creeper is always stunning in autumn, the only problem with it is controlling the rapid growth!! Have a good day Diane
DeleteThat is one huge lunch!
ReplyDeleteFrench lunches we find generally are, but you have plenty of time to eat it and it means we do not eat anything else all day!! Hope you are settling back into routine again Diane
DeleteHave you entered a rainy season?
ReplyDeleteOr is this just random days of rain?
Here, November is more rainy than October.
We do not really have a rainy season. It is generally drier during July, August, September but no guarantees. This year we are very low on rainfall having had only barely half of the norm. Take care and thanks for the comment Diane
DeleteSuch a huge lunch and such a reasonable price! The dessert looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteOne of our favourite restaurants, great food and very reasonable. 4 courses in summer and 5 in winter when they also add soup. Same price throughout the year. Have a good week Diane
DeleteI've not seen Virginia Creeper used like Ivy. It is certainly beautiful with it's crimson colors. Looks like a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful but damaging to brick work and roofs!! Cheers Diane
DeleteThat seems like a great deal for lunch! Thanks for including the food photo ;-)
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the 2 middle courses, when I am enjoying food I am inclined to forget!!! Cheers Diane
DeleteGood looking fall colors and nice looking lunch too.
