09/01/2018 Trying to get back to normal.......

Maximum temperature 9C, minimum 4C.  Since 01/01/2018 we have had 80 mm rain.  It just keeps raining!

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has commented, and those who have sent me emails worrying if I was OK. To answer the latter, I still do not feel anywhere well, and the continual coughing is making me very short on sleep.  I am not a nice person to know when very tired!!

I did though pick up the camera last night (first photo of 2018!) to take a photo from the back door, at least you know I am still in land of the living - just!!  Not sure when I will be back blogging properly, but hopefully fairly soon.
Photos taken just a few minutes apart.

Promise I will get back to commenting as soon as I feel up to it.

  5. So sorry you are still not feeling well. The sunset is absolutely stunning!

In regards to the bird situation with the wind turbines, the company was required to do extensive biological bird habitat studies. In Texas, wind turbine projects are not allowed to be built in areas where raptors nest or inhabit. Also, we have a very low population of bats in this area as the habitat is not suitable for them. Texas area - 268597 sq.mi. Texas population - 27.86 mil. France area - 248573 sq.mi. France population - 66.9 mil. Therefore, Texas has much more area that is uninhabited and undeveloped, so there is ample habitats for wildlife. I really don’t know all the statistics, but when I asked the company rep, he told me that bird deaths caused by wind turbines in America are minimal.

    Have a good day!

  8. Oh gee Diane, I am sorry for you... I know too well what you must feel like, it is horrible but.... the bright of it is that you'll get better! LOL! Hope I get you to laugh at least!
Stuff yourself with royal jelly, pollen honey, and Propolis, I started this after 2 flues in a single winter with 40°C temperature and since I started on these products, I never had another flue and hardly a cold.
These photos are stunning, what a wonderful sunset!
I won't be much on the blogosphere (nothing changes!!) because next week I am flying off to Kenya... 3 weeks back in African bush, a dream!
I wish you a prompt recovery, dear friend take good care :)

Diane, whenever you are heading back to RSA, I would be very happy to join the party!
I looked at prices for Okavango but it's way too expensive!
Until then.... get better ASAP, at least in Nevis you really enjoyed yourself!

  9. Oh no Diane, I didn't realise you were so unwell, that's horrible. I hope the miracle cough medicine keeps working and you get a wee bit more sleep, it makes all the difference! You have the most wonderful views here.. and right from your back door, how lucky you are. Take good care of yourself and hopefully you will be back to full strength very soon ✨
