Today's maximum temperature 10C, minimum 3C. Rain still on and off I have not checked Nigel's records. All the rivers and lands are flooded so I am told - I have not been out of the house!
Morning of the 28th December 2017 leaving Devizes in the UK. Apologies for the dirty windscreen!...
as above.
Arrival at customs in Folkestone, if there is a slow queue we find it and we did again!
Thirty minute delay as a car had broken down on the Chunnel train!!! We ended up travelling in a truck train instead of the double storey car one.
Passing the mining basin at Nord-Pas de Calais, a World Heritage site.
Remarkable as a landscape shaped over three centuries of coal extraction from the 1700s to the 1900s
A drive by sunset just before reaching Arras.
Arras by night walking to the restaurant for dinner...
Not great shots as all hand held...
As above.
We walked around part of the town the following morning, not feeling well even then, so there will be some photos from the town in daylight. The problem is now with my fuzzy head I am not sure what building is what!!
I will not be posting daily as I still do not feel up to it but getting there slowly.
I'm so sorry you're still not feeling well. You have my prayers.
ReplyDeleteYou need never to apologize for your photos, though. They are always delightful, and you give us the opportunity see a different part of our world. :)
P.S. The 'machine' you saw on my blog is what we call a jukebox. We could sit there, and feed dimes to hear different songs. :)
xoxo
Oh I know what a jukebox is but I have never seen one so small. All the ones I have seen in years gone by where huge!!
DeleteThanks for the kind comment, appreciated, Take care Diane
I enjoyed the chunnel experience though I was a bit apprehensive.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, Diane.
Personally I hate the chunnel I do not like being closed in! The truck train was easier on my claustrophobic feelings though than the double storey car one! Take care Diane
DeleteGlad to hear that you are feeling at least somewhat better. Better get totally well soon - there must be Scrabbble games waiting to be played, gourmet lunches to eat, cheese trays to salivate over, Champagne with the mayor to enjoy - hobnobbing with the glitterati. It all awaits you!
ReplyDeleteWe have been cancelling scrabble as I have not felt like sitting in a large chilly hall!!! Today is my first day out as I need a haircut, already cancelled one and she is going on leave next week!! Just hope I can survive any coughing fits while she is doing it!! I need natural warmth to really get better I think.
DeleteKeep well Diane
Oh that sunset picture is lovely. Stunning colours spreading out from behind the clouds.
ReplyDeleteLike me you appreciate nature in the sky, it is amazing. Hope all is well Diane
DeleteI saw SNOW in those first two pics.....and I sit here waiting Nashville TN's first snow this winter in a few hours. Ice to hit around 7 am, rush hour and turn to snow mid morning....course it probably will not do all that much, it was 70 today...haha
ReplyDeleteYou can keep your snow and enjoy. I hate the stuff and we had it before Christmas and after in the UK.Hope all is well Diane
DeleteAs always you take such fu photos of your travels!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Thanks Doniene, hope that all is well in Texas. Diane
DeleteHi Diane, I hope you are improving and getting better day by day! I am also down with cold and cough. The weather here is cold but not as cold as yours. Ours only 22 deg.C. You may say the windscreen is dirty but it makes great pictures.
ReplyDeleteSeems there is some really bad bugs around this year, hope you get better quickly. I would be very happy if we were 22C :-) Take care Diane
DeleteSorry to read that you are still not feeling too well. I hope you start to improve soon.
ReplyDeleteThe chunnel would be an interesting experience I feel. I hadn't really thought about how it works until I saw your photo,
The chunnel is interesting I just do not like being closed in and the truck train gave me far more a feel of freedom to the double storey car train which is quite low. I do feel better but the cough is getting me down!! Have a great weekend Diane
DeleteIf there's a slow line, I always seem to find it. Hope you are both well, soon.
ReplyDeleteSlow queues seem to follow us! The other thing is exchange rates, we never get the best rates not matter how we try to hit the right hour!! When we left RSA it was at its lowest ever, not good for leaving but great for going there on holiday!! Take care Diane
DeleteYes, flu bugs seem to be worse this year and three different strains have hit Canada this Winter ( so the paper said yesterday). I'm glad to hear you are getting better albeit slowly. Try and keep warm. Hugs. xx
ReplyDeletePenny I know a number of people who have been very ill this year. I seem to manage a bug of some sort every time I stay at FIL's in the UK. Until we get some warmth back outside and the sun decides to shine I suspect I am going to remain very lethargic!! Hugs Diane xx
DeleteOh no! Still feeling rotten Diane? It's no fun at all. Have you been to see the doctor? I really hope you start to pick up soon, don't try to do too much too soon. Take care ✨
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen the Dr and finished all tablets prescribed. It is the cough now that is getting me down! Until I can get out in decent weather and take photos i suspect the blog will be very slow!! Keep well and enjoy your summer. Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, Diane. Happy New Year, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia and the same to you as well. Keep well Diane
DeleteI do hope that you are getting better each day. Try to stay warm and eat comforting meals. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteFor a while I lost my taste and everything was like eating grass but at least some flavours are coming back now!!! Hope all is well with you. Diane
DeleteGoodness you have had a bad dose of it. Is it the Aussie Flu which is sweeping through UK? I had a cough for 6 weeks.
ReplyDeleteNo idea what it is but we have both felt awful for too long now! T'other Diane
