Maximum temperature 13C, minimum 10C. 33 mm of rain measured this morning. Total this month now 161 mm!! Westerly winds; 20 km/h with up to 44 km/h gusts.
Common Blackbird male (Turdus merula)...
as above. The lawn is saturated and is like a wet sponge to walk on, heaven only knows when we will ever be able to cut the grass!
Eurasian Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
as above...
and on its way.
Common Chaffinch male (Fringillidae).
For those interested I have started a series of photos taken on Nevis in the Caribbean here
Great captures, Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie, just a few lucky photos really! Take care and keep warm, Diane
DeleteThe male Eurasian Blackbird is such a handsome bird. Great shots of the Blue Tit and the Chaffinch too. Stay dry!
ReplyDeleteDavid the weather is ridiculous. When we bought this house we were told we were in a draught area, that was in 2005. We have had a few dryish years but never down to water restrictions, and this year so far is just continual rain. Glad our house is on high ground!! The cold winds at the moment are another problem! Enjoy your daily outings Diane
DeleteBirds are difficult to capture in pictures. The blue tit is colorful.
ReplyDeleteThey are the sweetest of little birds with great character. We love them and always have dozens of them around in winter. Take care Diane
DeleteThe pastel yellows and blue in the Eurasian Blue Tit are very attractive.
ReplyDeleteThey are delightful birds and not too shy which helps with photos. Cheers Diane
DeleteSome animals just seem made for the camera ;-)
DeleteHi Diane. Isn't the blackbird very like the mynah import in SA? Apart from the beak. The tits are delightful, quaint little birds. Lovely photos. Hope that means you are well again now. kim
ReplyDeleteNo Kim nothing alike. The Mynah is a member of the starling family and the blackbird is a thrush. The blackbird also is a magical songbird. I am feeling better but still coughing. The weather is rubbish so photos will be few and far between until we see some sun. Keep well Diane
DeleteHappy to see the birds out and about. We are having plenty of rain but getting more sunlight now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting some sun wish we could see a bit here! Take care Diane
DeleteI hope taking a few shots of these delightful visitors to your garden cheered you up Diane.. the cough is always the last to go, it's so exhausting isn't it. I'm still coughing from the flu I had about three months ago! It's driving me, and I'm sure everyone else mad!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace, the birds are really cute but if only it would stop raining!! I am prone to coughs and they take an awful lot of getting rid of. The worst is at night and interrupting my sleep. I am very grouchy when I am short on sleep!! I have moved into the spare room to allow Nigel to sleep :-((( Hope your cough stops soon. Diane
DeleteLove the photos, Diane. I hope the rain stops soon; maybe you could send it to us. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
I would happily send it to you if only I could,it is so grey and depressing. Take care Diane
DeleteBEAUTIFUL pics Diane. I love the Blue Tit. I hope you are feeling better now. I know that the sinus head stuff going around has been rough. The cough seems to just hang around. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam. I am feeling better though lack of sleep makes me miserable, too much coughing!! You also take care Diane
DeleteMaximum temperature of 13 does sound very pleasant compared to our maximum of 40.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of your birds.
Lynda I would far rather have 40, I hate the cold. I agree 40 is a bit high but but I would cope with that better I have to say. Thanks for the comment. Diane
