Maximum temperature 11C, minimum 5C. 1 mm of rain measured this morning but it has been raining all day!. Total this month now 174 mm!! North Westerly winds; 7 km/h with up to 31 km/h gusts.
The Louvre museum in Paris shuts down it lower level as the seine river is on flood alert. The rain is country wide.
I moved the bird food today and it made photos so easy as the tits were coming back to the window to see what was happening 😊
Face at the window - Eurasian blue tit having something to say. (Cyanistes caeruleus).
Four different poses of the Blue tit follows....

and Great tit back view. Very similar in these views, but the great tit has a black head and it is a bit larger in size.
Common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) and Blue tit hiding in the wet grass.
Eurasian collard dove (Streptopelia decaocto), hiding in a tree with a Blue tit in flight to the left.
The only shot I could get of the shy European robin (Erithacus rubecula).
Lastly a common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) watching from the top of a tree.
For those interested I have started a series of photos taken on Nevis in the Caribbean here. Both Part 1 and Part 2. More to follow.
Great closeups! A whole post devoted to birds - I am impressed!
ReplyDeleteThanks David but nothing else to take photos of unless you want to see rain every day. This was a lucky 1/2 hour when I moved the seed and there was lots of interest to see what I had done!! Keep warm Diane
DeleteSuch beautiful photo's, Diane! Your photography always amazes me!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thanks Sally, the blue tits in particular are very photogenic and not shy. Keep well Diane
DeleteGreat bird photos, Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie a lucky day, I do not often have this much interest next to the window. LOL Diane
DeleteIt was good to see all the different sides of that pretty little tit. Those are wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma. Easy when the birds are not too shy and they suddenly had a new interest with their food being moved! Hope you are well Diane
DeleteYou've captured some beautiful close-ups today.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was an easy day with them being inquisitive :-) Have a good weekend, cheers Diane
DeleteHi Diane. It is a brilliant idea to move the food to the window and get close up shots of these exquisite little birds. I like the African head as well. It hasn't rained in Durban this year yet and the Western Cape is still experiencing extreme drought, households there can only use 50 litres of water a day. The world's climate is definitely changing. Kim x
ReplyDeleteSadly Kim it is not a move I can make permanently. The barn cats around here would also find it easy to catch them. We have too many cats about and I would not risk the birds lives. 50 litres is not too bad I was told it was 5 litres which is terrible. The weather as you say is changing everywhere. We are saturated while other places are bone dry!! Enjoy your weekend Diane
DeleteAmazing photos. I loved them all. Great details too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and thanks for visiting photodiary as well. Hope you have a great weekend Diane
DeleteLove, love, love these shots Diane. Brilliant idea to move the food closer. I did read about the floods in Paris, surely the rain has to stop sometime soon! Hope your cough is getting better, I'm going to see the doc about mine on Monday, it's driving me crazy 😀 Happy weekend ✨
ReplyDeleteThanks but as I said above I cannot leave the food this close by for long as the cats also find it as easy to catch them as I do to photograph them!!!!!
DeleteThe cough has not changed but I feel better in myself. The Dr cannot cope with my cough a I found in the past when I visited specialist after specialist. I just hope it does not last as long as it did then!!
Keep well otherwise, and hope your cough soon stops. Diane x
Always good bird photos but it might be cheating just a little when they are looking in the windows. Hope you're staying dry.
ReplyDelete(I am struggling to catch up and keep up with blog reading while out in the desert.)
I am quite happy to cheat if they are happy to see what I am doing :-))))) Yes I am sure your connection to the outside world is not very good in the desert! Hope your weekend is a good one. Diane
DeleteBeautiful close up of the blue tit! It is cute!
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable little birds and fairly friendly. Have a good day Diane
