Maximum temperature 12C, minimum 5C. 1 mm of rain measured this morning. Total this month now 199 mm!! North Easterly winds; 6 km/h with up to 12 km/h gusts.
Today was the first time I have really been out and about. Feeling pretty good at last but still coughing!
Hazard warning as soon as we were on the highway!
Yes, the team were working on something at the side of the road.
Getting close to Angouleme.
One of the suburbs, Gond-Pontouvre.
Wall mural, sorry about the mark on the windscreen!
Just liked this building....
and this house.
Angouleme's narrow roads can be quite scary!
Up high on the hill is the covered market, Place Les Halles, which is open every day except Mondays.
Colourful flowers on the roundabout, a pleasure to see in winter.
Another mural, this may need a bit more imagination than the one above!
We stopped at our favourite restaurant Chez Doud for a quick lunch, and as we were leaving I spotted this crocus in a pot by the door. A first for me in 2018.
Back home the great tits were hanging around (Parus major).
As above.
For those interested I have started a series of photos taken on Nevis in the Caribbean here. Both Part 1 and Part 2. More to follow
I always enjoy seeing murals, and you guys have such interesting ones.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you felt like being out, and oh yes the cough always seems to linger, doesn't it?
Love seeing flowers; none here at all yet. :)
xoxo
One day I will take a long walk around Angouleme and try to find all the murals they are everywhere. It was lovely to see a splash of colour on the roundabout also they were on the sides of the road as well. Take care Diane.
DeleteIt is good to see you out and about again, Diane
ReplyDeleteI have to admit hat I was very tired when we got home it was a very long day with many places that we had to go to. Keep warm Diane
DeleteIt really is so grey. I always fall in love with Europe in the summer and think, "I'd like to live here," but I really need to visit in winter before making any big decisions ;-)
ReplyDeleteWinter in France is not as bad as in the UK, but I hate the cold so much after living in Africa for 50 years. Think I have very thin blood!! Cheers Diane
DeleteGood weather for photography - the light in your photos is beautiful.

It was actually very grey and misty in places. I had to brighten the photos or they would have been very dark and dull!! Diane
DeleteIt’s good to hear that you are out and about again. Now gotta get rid of that cough!
ReplyDeleteDavid the cough is getting no better and it is driving us both crazy especially at night. Cheers Diane
DeleteLove the paintings on the buildings. And such narrow roads. I love seeing the differences in your home place and mine. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThose narrow roads are quite scary sometimes. We have already had one wing mirror removed in a small village!! Hope you are well Diane
DeleteGood to know that you are better now. I am still coughing on and off! Interesting wall murals and pretty birds!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, my cough is not improving at all and it getting on our nerves. Hope the rest of the week is good Diane
DeleteI thought the vines were growing up the building in the first mursl. I want one on my house.
ReplyDeleteI replied to this yesterday!!!!! I said sorry the photos was not the best we were trying to get out of the way of traffic on a roundabout. It is actually a ricer with weir and the water running over it and a house at the back. Diane
DeleteHi Diane. Glad to hear that you are feeling better and getting out. Angouleme looks full of character and definitely a town of contrasts with the old buildings and modern murals. It looks like the great tits missed you and were looking forward to a meal when you got back home!
ReplyDeleteAngouleme is a very historic town and so many of the old buildings still stand. It is known as the town of comic strip and images. There is a special tour to see the paintings. Hope you are getting some rain at last. Take care Diane
DeleteAbout 1 cm of rain fell in Durban last night, still overcast and humid here, but no rain in Western Cape yet!
