Maximum temperature today 15C, minimum 2C. 3 mm of rain measured this morning and we have had dry blue skies today; 11 km/h South Westerly winds with up to 39 km/h gusts. (319 mm of rain so far from the 1st of January).
Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus).
As above.
A rare sighting in our garden of what I believe is a Eurasian siskin female (Spinus spinus). It was quite far away as all of today's birds were.
Common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus).
Great tit (Parus major).
One lone camellia in flower.
At the end of last month we went to Gourville and somehow I never loaded the photos on the blog!!
The station is now closed there, but they have the memories...
As above...
The mural at the end of the building....
A flat bed wagon on the old tracks.
Cafe de la Gare; we had a meat pie and veg here for lunch and it was very good. Just as we were leaving, the owner told us she had the keys for the little museum if we were interested. A bit late then as we wanted to get home, but maybe if we head that way again
Driving home from Gourville.
The birds are beautiful, as always. That was a lovely outing, Diane. It looks like the trees are on the verge of leaves already.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of shoots on the trees so I hope we do not get a really bad frost!! Hope all is well Diane.
DeleteGreat series of bird images and an interesting visit to a hundred year old station. I have to say that meat pie and vegetables for lunch seems more English fare than French, but I am sure it was good.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly enough the cafe is English owned LOL. Cheer Diane
DeleteIt's important. to be able to see the sights of the past. Good or bad those are the blocks of the foundation for the present.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad when these places close down but the memories are still there for all to see. Cheers Diane
DeleteThese birds, with their nice plump tummies, look very well fed. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf you could see the amount of food they get through!! We have no pets anymore so what we would have spent on them goes on bird food :-) Cheers Diane
DeleteNice to see blue skies in your shots. The birds a pretty and great photos of them.
ReplyDeleteWe have had some blue sky but we are still getting a lot of rain!! Take care t'other Diane
DeleteBeautiful birds and nice pictures of the old station. The leafless trees on both sides of the road make a beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy there are a number of roads in France with trees like that. They are very pretty, but if the sun is to the side it is not nice driving, you have continual flashing!!! Have a great weekend Diane.
DeleteDiane,I was typing a comment that appears I lost!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos as always. I especially like the art work which makes me wish I had that gene. You, on the other hand are s fabulous photographer and writer!
Xoxo
Ialso lose comment from time to time, most annoying! I love art but there is not enough hours in the day, I have not picked up a paint brush for a number of years!! As for being a photographer, it is a matter of luck, you should see how many photos get discarded!!!! Take care and enjoy the weekend Diane
DeleteYou have an excellent long lens and a super steady hand Diane, your bird shots are incroyable! I think like yourself, I don't feel sick or anything, a bit tired but it's the coughing that's driving me mad! Have you seen the doctor about your cough, maybe French doctors have more of a clue 😀
ReplyDeleteWhen I had the cough continue for nine years before nobody had any answers in the UK or France. Only when I was so ill on the cruise in the Med and the Italian Dr put me on drip did it eventually go!! I am hoping the this will not be another 9 years !!!! If it keeps going I will track down the medication that I had on the ship and speak to my GP. There are a lot of people here still coughing form colds at Christmas, so I am hoping we will all be better soon! Take care and have a good weekend Diane
DeleteYour bird photos are lovely and the little museum looks nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Terra so much for your visit and kind comments on both blogs. I hope that you have a good weekend Diane
DeleteI do hope you get to return for a museum visit, and lunch again.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to see inside a look at the train properly but it is quite far to just pop out to see. Cheers Diane
