06/04/20/2018 Still running a day late!!!!

Maximum temperature today 22C, minimum 6C.   8 mm of rain measured over the last two mornings; 15 km/h South Easterly winds with up to 37 km/h gusts.
Sun is shining happily today 😊
Total rainfall so far this year now 420 mm.

Yesterday we had plans to go to Confolons, but every road that led in that direction had a deviation sign on it so we finally gave up!  The signs just sent one around in a circle back to the same place!!

Traffic was milling around and had no idea where to go!  Very unusual in our area.

Next we went to La Rochefoucauld, but coming home we were down to one lane on the N141...

The powers that be were cutting back the scrub that was growing on the sides of the road....

While this truck was picking up all the rubbish to cart it away.

Closer to home an old tractor out on the road...

and fuel prices going up!!!

A drive-by shot of the rape starting to come into flower.

One of the Canadian carvings at the side of the road in Chasseneuil.

Back in the garden, a dandelion with a bee of some kind and many very small beetles.

I just liked the way the light was shining through the tulips...

as above.

an unknown insect.

  7. Hello Diane,
Yes sometimes one wonders what the people responsible for traffic are thinking when redirecting the traffic!!
When you're caught in it you don't think its funny... The day I landed back from Kenya, it was this famous wednesday with quite a bit of snow in Paris and half of the CDG airport staff was stuck in the traffic and could not reach it. I had to wait 3/4 of an hour inside the plane before getting off and once inside it was mayhem and I couldn't get through transit to reach my plane for Toulouse. I had to get out of the building, back in and in line for the controls (although I was in transit) and waited in the queue for 1 and a half hour... I finally got onto my plane with another 3 hours delay and when I drove back home, the farmers had blocked the highway and adjacent roads with tires and rubbish so I was delayed again for another hour before I reached home totally exhausted as I hadn't slept since O5h00 the previous day...!!!
All the best, warm hugs and enjoy your we :)

    1. Deviations here are useless, either they just vanish after a couple of signs or they send you around in a circle! I hate queing for anything and my back dislikes it even more that I do!!
The warmer weather is well appreciated :-) Take care, hugs Diane.

  8. Oh that field of flowers is lovely. A curious, random question: Did you know how to speak French before moving to France?

    1. LOL, no I did not speak a single word until I turned 60 and I don't know much more now. I can get by, but I cannot follow a conversation the French talk too fast. French grammar is way over my head, but strangely enough I mostly manage OK playing scrabble. In fact I come up with words that the French lady we play with have never heard of before!!!! She is forever checking in the dictionary what I put down. Cheers Diane

  9. Hi Diane. The drive by photo of the rape is very attractive, the slight blurriness definitely enhances the picture. Yesterday a drive that normally takes me 40 minutes on the main roads, took me an hour and a half, due to roads blocked by broken down vehicles, road repairs or accidents. I was very hot as well, around 30 degrees and by the time I got back home I felt and looked like a wet rag! Have a lovely weekend. x

    1. I used to hate traffic jams around Joburg in mid summer and my car did not have air conditioning. Mind you now we have it I will not use it as it makes me ill!! Have a good Sunday Diane

  10. Lovely signs of Spring all around. I see your maximum temperature is suddenly more than twice what we have been experiencing. Very strange weather for us but that seems to be becoming the norm. You have some lovely blossoms and to have sunshine after the rain is always a pleasure. Take care Diane. I hope you are getting over your long cold and that you will enjoy a lovely weekend.

    1. Thanks Penny, it really is looking quite spring like and lots of blossom suddenly appearing.
I am well over the cold but the cough will not go, very frustrating and very tiring!
Take care thoughts are with you at the moment. Diane

  13. Omy Diane I love camellias, roses and camellias are my favorites. My chilean grand mom had three or four camellias trees and are beautiful, I would love to be again a camellia tree.
Love all yours pictures. So beautiful!
