28/10/2018 Winter has arrived Brrrrrrrrr.

Maximum temperature today 5C, minimum 3C.  Rain not measured as yet; 27km/h North-easterly winds with up to 58 km/h gusts.

Photos were taken a couple of days back before the chill arrived!
European Stonechat (Saxicola rubicola hibernans) a first for me. Male and female in the distance.
Thanks to my friend Noushka for helping me out with the ID. If you have not seen her blog I can assure you it is well worth a visit.

A somewhat washed out Common Blue I think (Polyommatus icarus) on the Cosmos.

Small copper (Polyommatus icarus).

Choisya ternata.

Calendula.

As above.

Cosmos...

and with a bee...

and another bug.

Rosebud.

Not a lot of signs of autumn the day I took these photos, but the ferns are certainly changing colour...

as are the brambles.

Rose hips.

Sweet chestnuts - we had some with our dinner last night.

Last nights sunset....

and looking behind.

There is a short update on my bird blog HERE

  1. Both the Common Blue and the Cosmos are looking a little worse for the weather. Yet nice that you still have some flowers. Last week's rain set the Sage to flowering again here.

    1. Gaelyn the cosmos are mostly still OK despite, because they were so high, being blown over in our high winds, and there are still plenty of buds but if we get a frost, which is quite possible in the next few days, they will be gone. Our Sage went over months ago and certainly no sign of ore flowers but I do have some late lavendar! Have a good week Diane

  2. Lovely photo's, Diane! I'm wondering about your flowers now that winter is setting in.

Not much change here in Florida; however, it's nice and cool this morning and I love it. :)

    1. The flowers are still hanging in but if we get a frost then it will be goodbye! I hate the cold and I guess now we will have to put up with it until spring arrives, sigh. 🎃 Have a good week Diane

  3. The plants here are trying to hold on but the colder weather is getting to them. I love to see the leaves falling and floating on their way to the ground.
