I have been regularly walking the canal to keep myself relatively fit. It has been cold, but with almost no rain so far and little wind, even I who loves the sun have enjoyed my walks. If you have not seen my previous two posts then there is more information about the canal there.
Mist on the Kennet and Avon Canal.
As above.
One of the locks.
George Bar Bistro.
Caen Hill Locks are the longest continuous straight flight of locks in the UK.
This dog obviously decided that she had walked far enough and refused to move 😉
Catkins.
Quakers walk away from the canal
Squirrels in the trees...
and a very excited dog saw them and could not stop yapping.
Sunset over Devizes.
Loved this pair in the sidecar seen in Devizes.
Reflections on the canal.
The wharf.
No, it is not real but very lifelike.
Still waters run deep.
Devizes is a truly historic town and so full of history. I try not to put too much information on the photodiary, so I have posted about the town on My Life In the Charente 2 with lots more information which might interest many of you.
Beautiful photos once again, Diane. I LOVE the squirrel on the tree and the vintage sidecar! Happy New Year, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia, the two dogs were obviously very happy travelling in the sidecar. Take care Diane
DeleteI really like the misty pictures. The sense of solitude is palpable.
ReplyDeleteThan you Emma, so very peaceful during the week along the canal. Weekends it can get a bit busy! Keep well Diane
DeleteLooks like a lovely walk. I am glad that you are getting out and enjoying it. And with a temperature below 15 degrees even! Maybe next you will be out after a snowfall making snow angels! What is is the world coming to?
ReplyDeleteI will certainly not be out at minus 15C and I will not be walking in the snow. All these paths are well used and the snow soon compacts to ice. I cannot afford to slip and go down on my back. It is enough trouble without encouraging more pain!! Enjoy you colder winter, I am now looking forward to spring 😉 Cheers Diane
DeleteSuch beautiful misty photos the first two are. I'm enjoying seeing your cooler weather!
ReplyDeleteI am not exactly enjoying it, but it is bearable because of the lack (so far) of cold winds!! It is good to get out and get some exercise though. Keep well Diane
DeleteThis post certainly encourages me to get out, and walk. Sadly, I don't have quite the ideal place these days to take that walk. But, good for you, Diane. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
That is sad you have nowhere to walk. There are some great walks here as well as at home in France. Keep well Diane
DeleteHappy New Year to you both Diane. Have just been back to look at the posts I missed, gorgeous captures. Are you still in the UK? Just read above comments glad to hear you aren't taking any chances, would not be fun to have a fall. We are into full summer now and I can't wait for autumn 😊 My son et famille came over from Sydney for three weeks over Christmas, thank goodness for the pool, but oh my, I love them dearly but soooo exhausting 😀
ReplyDeleteHa ha, you are looking forward to Autumn and Spring cannot arrive fast enough for me 😉 We will be home, weather permitting to drive, at the end of January. Take care Diane
DeleteSorry to hear about your FIL Diane, such a worry. Does he live alone in UK?
DeleteWow, those first two pics are magical with the mist.
ReplyDeleteMist makes for incredible photos 😊 Cheers Diane
DeleteWhat romantic mood the first photos of the mist and trees and canals evokes, and that is a great photo of the two dogs in the side car. I bet they are happy guys.
ReplyDeleteI loved those two dogs, they seemed very happy to be traveling around in the sidecar. Thanks for the visit and the comment, Diane
DeleteI would love to walk with you. I like the adorable dogs and beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could join me for a walk it would be wonderful. Keep well Diane
DeleteBeautiful images of the canal and its environs! The reflections and the old bridge are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for the comment. The still water makes for amazing reflections. Cheers Diane
DeleteGreat photos. I bet those dogs love riding in the side car!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam, they looked like two very happy dogs 😉 Take care Diane
DeleteWonderful sights on your walk, loved the foggy ones particularly. I remember walking along the canal and seeing the barges when I visited my sister in Worcestershire more years ago than I can say.
ReplyDeleteFog makes for very interesting photos I must say. I have never done a lot of walking here as generally I am ill within days of arriving in the UK!!! This year FIL's house has new double glazing and the heating is working properly, so far so good, but still time for me to catch something yet!!! Another 3 weeks to go! Keep well Diane
DeleteGreat photos, Diane! Love the foggy canal and all the animals. The canal would be a great place to take a daily walk. It is all of 19° here and very cold wind so my walk was shortened today. Take care
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam it really is a good place to walk and you can pretty much go as far as you like. Keep well Diane
DeleteHappy New Year Rhodesia! As always, a great chronicle of photos. The foggy photos are my favorite. I laughed out loud with the photo of the dog who decided he was done and was not going to move.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, stay warm.
Velva
That dog was so funny. When I walked back it had gone so presumably she finally decided that she should get up and walk some more 😊 Take care Diane
Deletesuch cool photos.
ReplyDeletehappy new year
Thanks very much and a happy new year to you also. Thanks for the comment and the visit Diane
DeleteSuper photos and reflections. The fog makes good shots too. Well done for walking even in cold weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane, fog really does make for great photos I agree. It has been cold, but thankfuly no biting cold wind which really gets to me. Take care t'other Diane
DeleteBeautiful shots! I love the doggies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, a great place to walk the dogs. Hope all is well Diane
DeleteEven in fog the canals are interesting.
ReplyDeleteFog makes for very interesting photos, somewhat spooky :-) Take care Diane
